¡Hola! Are you a general engineer or physical scientist looking for an exciting new role? The Grid Deployment Office is hiring for an Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Bilingual-Spanish) at the GS-12/13 level. This is a position on our Territory and Recovery Assistance Program team. It is term-limited, with an initial appointment of 13 months, and an option to extend up to 10 years, based on the needs of the Department. Based in our Grid Modernization Division, the Territory and Recovery Assistance Program team supports the U.S. territories’ transition to a sustainable power grid by providing technical assistance, coordinating federal investments, and deploying resilience solutions in partnership with community and government stakeholders.
This role will be involved in critical activities aimed at enhancing resilience of the electric grid in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Addressing risks associated with energy infrastructure interdependencies.
• Supporting the managing and directing of the Department's support to territories for their development of electricity policies and programs in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories.
• Directing and developing plans for project teams or other groups in accomplishing/producing projects/studies.
• Analyzing and evaluating on a quantitative/qualitative basis the effectiveness of program operations.
• Evaluating and advising on organization, methods, and procedures, contributing significantly to grid modernization efforts in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories.
The position provides a wonderful opportunity for someone with technical experience as an engineer or from a physical science background, with knowledge of the Puerto Rico or other U.S. territories’ energy sectors, who is looking to work in a remote or hybrid environment at GDO’s Washington, D.C. office location with smart, passionate colleagues across the country.
