Wednesday, August 21 was National Senior Citizens Day, a day dedicated to honoring the wisdom, strength and legacy of our older generations. At Dominium, we’re committed to creating communities where all residents, including our seniors, can thrive. When this special day came around, we made sure to celebrate it in a memorable way.  Our Regional Offices joined the celebration by assembling “Day Brightener Goodie Bags” for our local senior communities. These bags, filled with cheerful yellow items like snacks, a stress star, a card, and more, were designed to brighten their day and spread a little joy. Our teams personally delivered them to our communities, taking the opportunity to connect with residents on a personal level. The photos below capture the joyful moments of packing and delivering the bags – a unique opportunity for our employees from different departments to come together and support our residents. While every day is an opportunity to celebrate our residents, National Senior Citizen Day provided the perfect change to show our seniors just how much they are appreciated. Recently, employees from our Phoenix Regional office had the eye-opening opportunity to participate in 'The Homeless Experience,' an immersive walk-through hosted by Entryway. This powerful journey put our team in the shoes of someone facing situational homelessness, offering a firsthand perspective on the struggles and support systems that can make all the difference. As a company in affordable housing development and property management, we see the positive impact of our housing daily. However, this experience shed light on the difficult realities many endure before finding stability in one of our Dominium communities. Recently, our Atlanta Regional Office team had the opportunity to tour the Braun Intertec Corporation's Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. Archeology Lab. Proud to see Dominium represented today by Senior Vice President & Mountain West Development Lead Owen Metz and Government Relations Manager & Team Lead Sarah Shambrook at Katie Hobbs’ historic signing of four bipartisan housing bills. These new laws are a significant leap forward in making housing more accessible and affordable for all Arizonans. Metz also had the opportunity to speak at the event, stating, “The bills passed this year by bipartisan legislature and signed by Governor Hobbs are a crucial first step towards addressing this crisis. More homes will be built, construction and permanent jobs will be created, and economic development will continue - billions of dollars of construction and hundreds of millions of dollars of taxes will be generated by the private sector having these tools at their disposal. That said, there is still work to be done. As a community we need to work together - we need collaboration between the public and private sectors - developers need to work with their neighbors and elected leaders - we need to solve this together to ensure we continue the amazing growth that attracts so many to Arizona.” What’s most encouraging is work like this helps tackle the problem head-on instead of simply admiring it. We are thrilled to announce the completion of Willow Place in McDonough, Georgia, a vibrant community thoughtfully designed for seniors aged 55 and older. Offering 182 high-quality, affordable apartment homes, this community provides much-needed affordable housing to the Atlanta metro area. With a mix of 1,2, and 3-bedroom apartments, Willow Place features 154 apartment homes, along with four cottages that provide an additional 28 apartment units. Residents will enjoy a wide range of amenities, including a clubroom, beauty salon, fitness center, library, theater room, outdoor grilling stations and a bocce court. On Tuesday, August 6, Dominium communities nationwide gathered for Night to Unite, formerly known as National Night Out (NNO). This annual event, held on the first Tuesday of August, strengthens neighborhood bonds, fosters positive relationships with law enforcement, and promotes crime prevention awareness. It’s a nationwide initiative that brings neighbors and law enforcement together, enhancing community spirit and partnerships, creating a stronger sense of community and making our neighborhoods better places to live.
