Proud of our public education coordinators! They did a presentation about Donor Alliance’s Transplantation Sciene Program to organ, eye & tissue professionals from across the country at the 2024 AOPO Annual Meeting. Transplantation Science provides students across CO and WY with a hands-on learning experience about organ and tissue donation. The curriculum will also be offered in several different languages starting in the fall!

Jennifer Muriett to serve as Board Secretary beginning July 2024. The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), which links all professionals involved in the U.S. donation and transplantation system, has announced Jennifer Muriett as the Board Secretary for the 2024-2026 term. Our region recorded the ninth consecutive year of growth for organ donation; the generosity of 307 heroic organ donors resulted in 918 lifesaving organ transplants in 2023. This marked a 10.4% increase in donors and a 10.6% increase in transplants compared to 2022. In addition to the lives saved through organ donation, we were proud to also work with 1,703 tissue donors and their families to recover lifesaving and healing tissue for bone and skin grafts, which will help over 100,000 more lives to be saved or healed.

Altamirano was recently appointed to the 2023-2025 Governing Board of Directors for the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT). "Donor Alliance has joined the Matador Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) Consortium. The partnership, which includes other Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), explores the possibility of leveraging advanced drone technology to quickly transport lifesaving organs across long distances between rural hospitals and hospitals where transplants occur. Currently, OPOs leverage both commercial and private ground and air transportation services for safe delivery of donated organs and tissue." https://lnkd.in/egpmyj4Y

"Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence (RMPEx) presented its 2023 Pete Reicks Leadership Award to Grace Harcek, director of performance excellence at Donor Alliance, for her tireless pursuit ensuring the organization’s efforts are aligned on its mission of saving and healing lives for organ and tissue donation and transplantation in Colorado and most of Wyoming. Each year, the award recognizes an individual whose performance excellence leadership and behaviors provide a role model for others. Last weekend, Donor Alliance was able to attend the Children's Hospital Association annual meeting. Here, Donor Alliance presented a Donor Alliance Ending the Wait Award and was able to connect with local hospital partners.
