Last week the Orlando Economic Partnership's Business Development team participated in a FAM tour of Orlando's Packing District development spearheaded by Dr. Phillips Charities and Dr. Phillips, Inc. During the visit, they stopped by the 4Roots Farm to tour the greenhouse, which is a showcase for world-class hydroponic technology from Israel, as well as aquaponic and other innovative growing systems. The 4Roots Farm is being constructed in the Packing District to serve as a demonstration farm, discovery, educational, and event center focused on sustainable regional food cultivation, waste, and farmland management. The 4Roots Farm also has partnerships with all of the Orlando region hospital systems to research and develop programs geared to treat diseases with the right foods instead of traditional medicine. They also visited the newly constructed, state-of-the-art Orlando Tennis Centre, which replaces the original facility that has been in use since 1932. Dr. Phillips, Inc. donated the land to the City of Orlando. It features 17 lighted tennis courts, a practice wall, a 4,000-square-foot building with locker rooms, meeting space, a maintenance building, a pro shop, and other facilities. There are also four pickleball courts lined on two of the hard courts. This new building is designed with sustainability in mind with the officials seeking LEED certification. Orlando's Packing District is grounded in innovation and opportunity. And that makes Orlando Unbelievably✨ #Orlando #UnbelievablyReal #4Roots #innovation #sustainability #tennis

Last night, I had the pleasure of joining Grace Medical Home and several local community partners for the official ribbon-cutting celebration of the new Grace Wellness Home here in Orlando. Our Florida Blue Foundation was proud to join the City of Orlando, Dr. Phillips Charities, Heart of Florida United Way, First Baptist Church of Orlando, and Bea for Kids to help expand these much-needed services for our Central Florida community. In addition to addressing patients’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual health, Grace will focus on individualized plans to improve wellness. Thus, educating and equipping patients with additional wellness tools and developing new skills, which will further reduce stress, improve health outcomes and strengthen patients’ resilience. #mentalwellbeing #mentalwellness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthsupport #wellness #communitypartnerships

As RLF celebrates the first anniversary of the Leonard and Marjorie Family YMCA, we are inspired by the vision of the Packing District – to honor the history of Dr. Philip Phillips’ philanthropic efforts while fostering a neighborhood that prioritizes community well-being. As the cornerstone in the Packing District’s redevelopment, the design of the YMCA embodies this vision using elements that pay homage to Phillips’ industrial packing houses and the citrus industry synonymous with the area’s history. The “bridge” connecting each side of the building is a beautiful, functional feature representing the YMCA’s work of bridging communities. Serving as a community hub, the facility promotes health, wellness, and enjoyment while fostering connections among neighbors from surrounding areas. Such a great night at the UCF College of Business Hall of Fame last night. My husband Thomas Tukdarian and my sons Robert Tukdarian and Chris Tukdarian dressed for the Indiana Jones theme and completely supported me (as always) on my induction into the UCF CoB Hall of Fame. I am also fortunate to have the best support in all of my friends, including the students, faculty, administration, fundraising executives, and UCF Foundation board. Shout out if you were in the intimate group of over 700 people that attended if I didn’t tag you! Here are just a few of my most supportive network in attendance: Paul Gregg, Tiffany Hughes, Erika Hodges, Lauren Ferguson, MPA, Austin Wilson, Katherine (Kate) Martin, William (Bill) Martin, Bridget Keefe, Grace Chehansky, Melanie Fernandez, Mike Kilbride, Provost Michael Johnson, Rod Grabowski, Janelle Hom, Brandon Greenaway, Colby Smith, Dianne Owen, Carrie (Callahan) Daanen, Brian Butler, Kevin Wydra, Diane Mahoney, Dean Paul Jarley, Joshua Harris. I know I missed over 200 people! Thank you and please remember to support UCF in its pursuit of unleashing higher state funding at the preeminent level that UF, FSU and USF receives by contributing to the UCF Foundation endowment https://lnkd.in/gNMsqT5R or by contributing to the Day of Giving #https://lnkd.in/gbwH6b4w. If you can’t figure out how to get involved in helping UCF students by contributing your money or time, I will be happy to connect you.
