If stakeholders have a hard time answering these questions, it's a big sign to take a step back BEFORE starting a research project. ⤵️ 👉 What's next? 👉 What are we going to do with these insights? 👉 If we get a positive/negative response to this user flow, what's the next step? 👉 How will our research impact next steps for this product we might build in the future? There's a lot of excitement as you're leading up to research. Take advantage of that point when engagement is highest to have a sprint or meeting and align everyone on your intended impact. That way, you're not scrambling around after the fact—trying to figure out how to apply insights when other priorities start to draw attention away.

🔍Continuous discovery is an ongoing approach to user research that involves regularly engaging with customers to inform product decisions and uncover insights in real time.🔎 This week I had the chance to learn more about this research practice in Dscout’s Research, Design, Repeat webinar with Bradley Mattan from Vivid Seats, where he shared how his team applies continuous discovery to drive business growth and collaboration. Here were some key takeaways on how Vivid Seats leverages continuous research to drive meaningful, data-backed decisions across product teams: 🔄 Embedded Matrix Model: Vivid Seats has each UXR embedded within product teams, a setup that promotes closer collaboration with designers and stakeholders—a powerful model, especially for smaller teams. 🛠️ Continuous Discovery Research: To keep up with rapid development, Vivid Seats implemented continuous discovery research, speaking to customers weekly. This approach fosters rapid feedback on prototypes, helps uncover pain points, and empowers teams to prioritize features confidently. 📷 Interview Snapshot for Concise Deliverables: Brad highlighted Teresa Torres’ Interview Snapshot method as a powerful tool to capture insights from regular customer interviews in a concise, consistent format. This approach benefits continuous discovery by enabling teams to quickly synthesize findings, identify patterns over time, and share insights across teams efficiently. It supports better decision-making by making insights easy to digest and revisit, helping stakeholders stay informed and aligned without the need for lengthy reports. 📈 Data-Driven Decision-Making: Continuous discovery supports a culture of iterative, data-backed design decisions, including rapid A/B testing and targeted design updates. For teams starting out, Brad shared the importance of intentionality in your approach and involving leadership from the start to build trust and buy-in. Vivid Seats’ approach emphasizes practical, iterative insights that drive business impact. Thank you Colleen Pate for your wonderful facilitation and Brad for sharing best practices, this webinar was insightful and informative! #UXResearch #ContinuousDiscovery #UserExperience #ProductDesign #DesignThinking
