We are looking for a remote, volunteer (Pro Bono) Environmental Law Advisor to provide legal feedback on proposed revisions to Bermuda's Clean Air Amendments Act of 2024. After years of lobbying, the government has finally opened the legislation for consultation, but only for a few more weeks. We would need your feedback by August 16th, at the latest to draft our comprehensive response. The Bermuda Clean Air Coalition (BCAC) and the people of Bermuda need YOUR support in making sure we get this right for the health of generations to come. The BCAC is an activist group formed by local residents and business leaders. The coalition aims to bring awareness to the public, as well as Bermuda Electric Light Company's (BELCO) staff, management, owners, and shareholders, regarding the grave implications caused by BELCO’s use of highly polluting Heavy Fuel Oil. Qualifications Must have Juris Doctor (JD) degree or B.A./M.A. in Environmental Policy Background and experience in environmental law or related field Passionate about environmental conservation, advocacy, and public health Does not have to be located in the U.S. or Bermuda Response Please email your resume detailing your experience alongside your legal review of the Bermuda's Clean Air Amendments Act of 2024 in English to ruby@earthforwardgroup.com. Specifically, your legal review should answer the following questions: Do the proposed regulations and reporting standards have enough teeth? Are they capable of imposing fines and effectively protecting public health, as well as holding corporations and polluting entities accountable? If not, what additional measures should be implemented to ensure these outcomes? How do the proposed regulations align with global legal best practices regarding fines, penalties, and enforceability? Please raise any additional concerns you have with the proposed legislation. Over 150 attendees celebrated 54 students as they walked the graduate stage to receive their certifications in USGBC LEED General Associate, BPI Building-Analyst Technician, and BPI Infiltration & Duct Leakage. This program not only supports the student’s academic careers, but also positions them as top candidates when they enter the workforce. We have full faith they will go on to lead successful careers and are very proud of their accomplishments! 👩🎓 👨🎓 As we look to the future, energy-efficient building practices will be key to meeting federal, state, and local climate goals. Education is one of the lead focuses to addressing our environmental challenges and protecting our future. We are thrilled to contribute to these initiatives, focusing on workforce development for careers in sustainability.
