Alleviating hunger in eastern Illinois.

About us

OUR MISSION Eastern Illinois Foodbank exists to alleviate hunger in eastern Illinois. WHAT WE DO Eastern Illinois Foodbank is a member of the Feeding America network, and is the primary food source for food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other programs working to feed neighbors facing food insecurity. The Foodbank acquires millions of pounds of food and grocery product through purchase or donation and distributes it across our network of more than 160 feeding programs. Together, we’re working to create a hunger-free eastern Illinois. By partnering with EIF, emergency food programs are able to save millions of dollars each year in food purchase and handling costs. These savings allow them to focus their efforts and funds on more effectively working to alleviate hunger in our area. The Foodbank also operates programs targeted to children, seniors, and veterans. We fight hunger in communities throughout these 18 counties in eastern Illinois: Champaign Clark Clay Coles Crawford Cumberland DeWitt Douglas Edgar Ford Iroquois Jasper Livingston McLean Moultrie Piatt Vermilion Woodford

Seeing sweet corn harvested to feed our neighbors is one of our favorite times of year! 🌽 Thank you to our friends at Bunting Family Farm for planting, harvesting, and donating an acre of corn (more than 16,000 pounds!) to provide nutritious, fresh food to local families. ❤️

  • If you've stopped by EIF recently, you know that our capital campaign renovations gave us space that was bright and open...and completely blank! Thanks to Kari Beckett, we're excited to unveil an office that's colorful, welcoming, and celebrates our mission. Stop by for a tour and see the fun updates in person—the couch is as comfortable as it looks! Thank you to Kari and the teams from Ace Handyman Services East Central IL, Draperies & Interiors of Savoy, Planted CU, and Signarama for their hard work on this project. ❤️

Crystal Stanley of Crystal Kitchen in Bloomington made a big difference with one cake! When her "Morning Glory" cake won the Fresh Thyme Market 10th birthday cake contest, she not only received a gift to grow her small business, but chose to share the impact with a $5,000 gift to EIF. As a past foodbank volunteer, Crystal is passionate about nutritious meals being accessible to our community. Thank you to Crystal and Fresh Thyme Market for their support in alleviating hunger for our neighbors! ❤️🎂

  • As the primary driver of EIF's Foodmobile, Richard sees the impact of food insecurity in communities throughout eastern Illinois every day. “I’ve seen an increase in people on a fixed income—and everyone, including me, is feeling the impact of increased grocery prices," he said. "The best part of my day is seeing how appreciative the neighbors are. We thank them for stopping by, and they tell us they wouldn’t eat that week if we weren’t there.” Our Foodmobile crew loves meeting new neighbors every day, and your support helps them reach more local families! Fuel our mission today: https://lnkd.in/guxuC57n
