🎉Congratulations to Timothy DeFries for being awarded a patent alongside our clients at the U.S. EPA! This new remote sensing technique allows us to measure the mass of pollutants being emitted by vehicles, not just concentrations. Among other benefits, this will further EPA’s goal of quantifying the pollutants vehicles emit into the atmosphere at a national level, like carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxide. It will also help state and national organizations identify vehicles with faulty emissions reduction systems, potentially streamlining inspection and maintenance programs.
