Eastern Shipbuilding and FDNY Fireboats 15 Years ago, Eastern Shipbuilding launched the largest and most sophisticated fireboat in the world. The THREE FORTY THREE was named after the 343 firemen who perished at the world trade center 23 years ago. It is a memorial to their memory, complete with steel from the world trade center forming the name on her bow. This boat and her twin sister, the Fire Fighter II remain the highest pumping capacity Fireboats in the world.
