About us
ECS is an international, nonprofit organization working to advance theory and practice at the forefront of electrochemistry, solid state science, and allied subjects. ECS encourages research, discussion, critical assessment, and dissemination of knowledge in these fields. The Society holds meetings, publishes scientific papers, fosters training and education of scientists and engineers, and cooperates with other organizations to promote science and technology in the public interest. ECS bridges the gaps among academia, research, and engineering—bringing together scientists from around the world for the exchange of technical information. This unique blend provides an unparalleled forum for the integration of these areas of science and technology. ECS continues to disseminate information through technical meetings, peer-reviewed journals, student services, a quarterly news magazine, books, and awards; and provides networking contacts through ECS’s Divisions and Sections.

I am very happy to share that our latest work on the „Effect of the Mechanical Pressure on Rate Capability, and Expansion in Multilayer Pouch Cells with Silicon-Dominant Anodes“ has been published in the ECS - The Electrochemical Society! The full article is available open-access: https://lnkd.in/eXYVaHyD Our highlights include: - improved rate capability of silicon anodes compared to graphite anodes. - improved rate capability with lower temperature increases for higher mechanical pressures (i.e., 0.5 MPa) especially at higher C-rates (e.g., 3C). - pressure-dependent impedance due to contact resistance - Decreasing anode thickness and porosity (quantified via pycnometer and mercury intrusion porosimeter measurements) for increasing pressures. Many thanks to my great co-authors Simon Helmer, Lennart Reuter, Jonas Dickmanns, Axel Durdel, and Andreas Jossen. Also many thanks to Korbinian Schmidt, Andreas Aufschläger, Adrian Wanner, and Alessandro Sommer for supporting this study!

It was a pleasure interacting with the young minds, who were very curious and excited to learn. Every time I do this, I come back energized. Thanks to ECS - The Electrochemical Society and the staff for excellent arrangements and thanks to Ohmium for sponsoring this event. #nextgenerationstem #scienceoutreach #electrochemistryoutreach.
On #WorldHydrogenDay, Ohmium sponsored a youth-focused STEM event, "Electrochemistry in Action: Fuel Cell Model Car Race" at The Electrochemical Society (ECS - The Electrochemical Society) PRiME 2024 Conference. Many congratulations go to Chockkalingam 'Chock' Karuppaiah and volunteer, Abigail Paul from Ohio University who led the youngest and most excited future ECS members to build model cars that were powered by sunlight and water. Thank you for your dedication to molding young minds and STEM. Go Team! #PRiME2024 #electrochemistry #ECS #futureisgreen #greentransportation #cleanenergy #STEM
