A variety of economic methodologies have emerged in antitrust litigation seeking to supplement pooled overcharge regression models offered at the class certification stage and fill the analytical gap with respect to assessing antitrust injury on a classwide basis. In this article, originally published by the California Lawyers Association, Edgeworth Partner Michael Kheyfets aims to arm practitioners and courts with a better understanding of how these methodologies work and where they may (or may not) add value. On this episode of #OfSignificance, Stephen G. Bronars, Nathan D. Woods, PhD and Brent Butgereit take on sampling. It’s a fundamental component of statistics and there is endless opportunity for stimulating conversation about it. Listening to only one minute will NOT be a representative sample of this episode – you might want to listen to the entire thing. Edgeworth’s very own Matt Milner, Jesse David, and Harry Higginbottom (and their mascot Turbo!) are currently participating in the annual four-day Champion Awareness bike ride in partnership with the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Champion Awareness is a cause that uses cycling and social media to educate people about cancer, raise awareness about early detection, and support people that have battled and continue to fight these diseases. The 340-mile ride (yes, you read that right!) will take them through Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia. We are cheering them on and look forward to hearing their stories from the journey!
