In the mid 80s Vip Patel, eHealth’s founder, nearly died from food poisoning. He had no health insurance and was too afraid of what it would cost to go to the emergency room. As a direct result, 10 years later, he created the world’s first online health insurance marketplace so no one else would have to choose between risking their life or crippling debt. 25 years later, eHealth employs over 1,500 people and has insured over 5 million people.
