It takes a village to raise a child. In their latest piece, Casper ter Kuile and Melanie Kahl explored how "forgotten kin" like guncles, godmothers, and neighbors can support children in ways that go beyond the traditional family structure. As fewer Americans have children, the opportunity for creative kinship grows. These trusted adults — whether related by blood or by choice — can help kids navigate transitions, foster resilience, and form healthy identities. Please read the full article to learn how we can cultivate creative kinship and build a modern village of support. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gAS95DVd #CommunityCare #ChildDevelopment #EmotionalConnection #Kinship #EarlyRelationalHealth #EinhornCollaborative

Einhorn Collaborative reposted this
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve completed my 11-week internship at Einhorn Collaborative, a philanthropic organization dedicated to elevating the power of human connection. This summer, alongside my amazing partner Fanta Diop, we delved into research and analysis focused on Gen Z’s attitudes, motivations, and sentiments. Our goal was to help Einhorn Collaborative evolve its bridging strategy. By interviewing over 50 Gen Zers in both group and individual settings, we gained valuable insights into what drives this generation to engage across lines of difference. These findings culminated in a 10-page executive report, which we had the honor of presenting to the Einhorn Collaborative team. One of the highlights of this internship was attending the BridgeUSA summit in Chicago, where we saw the goals of our project come to life with one of Einhorn Collaborative's partner organizations. It was inspiring to connect with Gen Z bridgers who are making strides in fostering cohesiveness on their campuses and beyond. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Einhorn Collaborative team—Christine Baitsell, Chi Nguyen, Jonathan Gruber, Ira Hillman, and Barbara Wanasek—for welcoming me into the family. Special thanks to Shawn Jenkins, fellow posse scholar, for your mentorship and guidance throughout this project, and to David Einhorn and Jennifer Hoos Rothberg for trusting us to create something truly impactful. Finally, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Fanta, who has been an incredible partner throughout this journey. We've known each other since senior year of high school when we joined the amazing cohort of The Posse Foundation scholars heading to Middlebury College. Working together this summer has been a full-circle moment, and I couldn't have asked for a better partner. As I look forward, I’m eager to see where this experience will lead me next and excited to apply the skills and knowledge I've gained to future challenges. To everyone I’ve met along the way—let’s stay connected! #EinhornCollaborative #EndOfInternship
