📣 “The multimodal nature of biology means that our system is very complex and can adapt. That's where we’re focused... We’ve built a platform in AVITI24 that looks at systems biology, without any workflow. The speed and iterative pace of biological research now has a new dimension.” - Michael Previte, CTO & Co-founder of Element Biosciences Element Co-founders Molly He and Michael Previte recently sat down on Alex Dickinson's Geonomics Podcast to reflect on Element’s founding story, learnings over the past seven years, and to share how #AVITI24 is already transforming #multiomics and research to improve precision medicine. #ElemBio #PrecisionMedicine
It's so interesting how companies are often close reflections of their founders' personalities, Apple perhaps being the most profound example. The biggest insight for me in talking with Element Biosciences Molly He lay in her decades-long passion for proteins. I mean, I knew from our Illumina days that she was an world-class expert on proteins in general, and enzymes in particular, but I just thought of this as yet another of the many skills required to build an sequencer, right along side say optical engineering. But this in the conversation the light finally came on for me! Element is an multiomics company because Molly was always fascinated by proteins, not DNA - it's just who she is. DNA sequencing was for her at PacBio and Illumina just a useful application of proteomics. Now she's built the opposite company: Element is a multiomics-first company and DNA sequencing is useful application on that path. Fascinating (to me anyway 🤣). Soooo, it's Friday, and if you haven't listed to this week's episode of the Geonomics Podcast, make sure you do over the weekend! Apple: https://lnkd.in/gKstXCPA Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gEdxcqay

Understanding how cells respond to inhibitors is key for drug discovery research. Using the #AVITI24 platform, we conducted a high-throughput multiomic analysis, including high-plex protein mapping, to explore TNFα-induced apoptosis and the effects of MAPK pathway inhibition. 🔎 Key findings: ✔️ High-plex protein detection enables simultaneous cell typing, activation state resolution, and intracellular protein tracking. ✔️ AVITI24 delivers robust accuracy with validation using gold-standard assays. ✔️ Identification of key protein and RNA targets highlights cell-type-specific apoptotic responses, providing insights for exploring strategies aimed at modulating apoptotic and inflammatory signaling.
