The 19th of June, aka Juneteenth, is a day to honor the end of slavery in the U.S. On June 19, 1865, the Union Army entered Texas which freed the enslaved people living in the state. Work for equality continues to this day. Juneteenth became an official federal holiday in 2021 and is a day of celebration for all that has been accomplished, but also a reminder of how we may learn from history to reflect on ourselves as a nation. We appreciate the lessons our history has taught us for we value every member of the Herd and wish everyone a Happy Juneteenth.
