Anthropologist Turned Tech Founder | AI-Powered Interview Platform for Deep, Scaled Insights | Bridging Human Understanding & AI @ EmpathixAI

I was at the Atlas of AI Summit hosted by Virginia Tech last week speaking with a research leader from Intel. I mentioned what had become a catch phrase of mine "center people in AI," she looked surprised. As a fellow skilled social scientist, she had been advocating the exact same thing. I'm excited to partner with Workshop Digital on this upcoming DigitalRVA meetup to do exactly that, amplify human voices in AI. So if that resonates with you, I would love to meet you. Join me on Wednesday 30 October for a deep dive on AI-powered market research strategies, all while keeping human beings at the center of the process. Check out the link in the first comment to register.

The future of market research isn't just conversational. It's AI-conversational. And it's happening now.

Surveys are a lie. A fantasy sold to companies by market research firms for all sorts of things they shouldn’t. Here's why they're failing you, the cost of relying on them, and how AI-powered interviews are changing the industry: According to ESOMAR's latest Global Market Research Report: "Research agencies have treated respondents poorly for so long that many, especially younger generations, no longer want to participate in traditional surveys." This isn't just a trend. It's a crisis in our industry and one that stands to be exacerbated by the explosion of really bad AI research methods. This isn't sustainable. With #AI being the hottest thing right now, I believe we're on the cusp of a new approach to how we gather human insights, albeit with care and scientific backing. Why? Because people open up in conversations. As an anthropologist, I've seen this firsthand in thousands of interviews. Now, I'm convinced that being an expert provider of AI-enabled interview research is a critical area of advancement for social scientists who have the: - Skill - Knowledge, and - Ethical training to bring about this transformation. Don't believe me? These responses from AI interview participants might change your mind: "This conversation was delightful. Thank you for listening to me." "I've really enjoyed your questions and responses. This has been so fun." "Can I come back and keep talking to you later about more topics?" When was the last time someone begged to continue your survey? I'll wait. Here's what I believe is the Magic Formula for the future of market research: [AI's scalability] + [Human-like empathy] = Authentic, insightful conversations at scale The results I've seen are mind-blowing: - 45+ minute engagement times (even from "survey junkies") - Insights so deep they've made CMOs rethink entire strategies - Participants who feel truly heard, not just another data point But here's the harsh truth: If you're not exploring expert AI-powered conversations, you're already behind. Are you ready to uncover insights you never knew existed? The future of market research isn't just conversational. It's AI-conversational. And it's happening now, whether you're ready or not. And, if you're not, start a conversation about what is holding you back. P.S. I'm passionate about being a scientific leader in this space. If you're ready to lead this revolution in your area, DM me and let's talk. I'm excited to chart your future together.

Robotic interviews are killing your market research. You know the type: - A pre-coded questionnaire with no room for nuance or depth. - A rigid script that leaves respondents feeling unheard and frustrated. - A "quality incomplete" mentality that throws out any interview that doesn't fit the narrow mold. It's no wonder people are increasingly turned off by traditional market research methods. -- But what if there was a better way? A way to conduct interviews that actually made respondents feel valued, heard, and engaged? That's my game plan with #CultureChat Unlike robotic interviews, CC is trained to mimic an expert human interviewer. It knows when to pivot or rephrase a question if a respondent is struggling, ensuring that no valuable perspective is left uncaptured. -- Here's an example: Imagine you're conducting a study on voter attitudes. A robotic interview might ask: "Who are you going to vote for in the upcoming election?" If the respondent says, "I don't know," the interview ends. (Since the response is 'low quality' – the data is thrown out.) But CultureChat would handle it differently. It might say: "No problem, elections can be a difficult thing to discuss. What types of characteristics are you looking for in the next person you'd like to see in the White House?" This pivot allows the respondent to share their views without feeling put on the spot. As the conversation continues, CultureChat might ask about specific issues or candidates, gradually building a picture of the respondent's political leanings. By the end, the respondent feels confident enough to share their voting intentions – not because they were forced to, but because the interview allowed them to. -- This is the power of AI-driven interviews. By treating respondents as individuals with valuable perspectives to share, rather than data points to be collected, they enable a whole new level of market research. Insights that are deeper, truer, and more reflective of real human experiences. The future of market research is conversational, adaptive, and deeply human – even when conducted by an AI. It's time to leave robotic interviews in the past, where they belong.
