2022 - 2023 was a year of many firsts for us. We brought in our first in-person student cohort, gained summer internship programs, and had our first cross country Empowr company tour. “Once you know the syntax of language, #computerscience is really just problem-solving,” says high school student Thomas Esayas. “I enjoy challenging problems, especially things that require much more consideration than something that takes a lot less time. I like the feeling of doing a challenging thing and overcoming it.” This past summer, MIT Digital Learning Lab and Empowr piloted a remote internship program. Esayas helped create and improve #onlinelearning content for MITx Courses and Open edX Community with digital learning scientists in MIT Department of Biology, MIT Department of Physics, MIT Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE). #onlineeducation #mentorship #coding #programming
