For sure, one of the most critical times to express your EVP, is through your candidate experience... but are you overlooking the impact of onboarding? 🤔 Recently, I've been looking at the end to end colleague experience to embed the EVP for a lovely client of mine. And I came across a great report by Enboarder - a deepdive into the state of onboarding, both what's working and impactful and what's not. Now, what stood out for me was the 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻... (the purple bars below) Now according to a Qualtrics study last year, the 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, so it seems a no-brainer to foster that right from the start. And the data supports that power here too. In the study, those that gave the highest praises of their onboarding experience came from those who felt fully supported and connected with their colleagues, with 𝟲𝟮% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. For those with a “Meh” experience, nearly half (45%) felt only a little supported and connected, and 27% of “Disappointed/Angry” employees said they didn’t feel AT ALL supported and connected to colleagues. So, this seems like a no-brainer.
