About us
Enclos is one of the largest specialty contractors in the United States. The firm provides design, engineering, fabrication and installation services for custom curtainwall systems and structural glass facades. Our roots trace back to the advent of curtainwall cladding systems in the mid-twentieth century. The firm has since provided innovative solutions on numerous prominent structures populating the built environment, with many landmarks among them. No other building system affects both appearance and performance as does the building skin. The sustainability of building practices into the future will have much to do with the building skin, and Enclos is playing a leadership role in defining the future of high-performance building systems. In 2009 Enclos launched a bold initiative — The Advanced Technology Studio of Enclos — to redefine the technical landscape of the building facade. This facade think tank was opened in downtown Los Angeles as a deep, technical resource for our clients, with the mission to define the future of the building skin. The Studio’s agenda is split between facade related research and development activities, pre-sale technical support, and design-assist services on the most technologically advanced facade programs. The rapid success of this initiative led to the launch of a second Studio in New York City in 2011. Now on both coasts, these small multidisciplinary teams of facade specialists are busy defining facade futures, one challenging project at a time. Enclos is a subsidiary of CH Holdings USA, Inc.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the iconic Dove Federal Building, FBI’s Miami regional headquarters, completed in 2014. Designed with sustainability at its core, this project aimed for the ambitious 2030 Zero Environmental Footprint goal. The high-performance curtainwall systems provided by Enclos feature floor-to-ceiling glass that dynamically responds to the sun’s angles. These facades not only enhance transparency for over 1,000 employees but also minimize solar heat gain and maximize natural daylight. Spanning more than 200,000 sqft, our team delivered comprehensive design-assist and design-build services, including blast-resistant facades and stunning AESS parapets. Awards and accolades: 🏆 Best of the Best: Government/Public Building, Engineering News-Record, 2015 🏆 Project of the Year, DBIA, 2015 Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) 🏆 Design Award Citation, GSA, 2014 Learn more about the project at https://lnkd.in/eDWNsXtx GSA HENSEL PHELPS Jacobs Gensler Krueck Sexton Partners Thornton Tomasetti Gordon H. At Enclos, developing facade systems for government facilities involves the utmost security and confidentiality. Our expert designers and engineers navigate multiple performance requirements, including blast, ballistic, forced-entry, and ground-accessible penetration. Government buildings often feature taller floor-to-floor heights, requiring deeper and more robust unitized curtainwall systems. Our project management team excels at coordinating the heightened security and confidentiality needed for courthouses, embassies, and other government structures throughout procurement and construction. Located in the heart of Indianapolis, the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, a replacement facility for the former Wishard Memorial Hospital, serves all of central Indiana. Completed in 2012, this state-of-the-art facility was brought to life after a remarkable 85% voter approval in a 2009 referendum, signifying the community’s support for modern, high-quality healthcare. At Enclos, we’re proud to have played a crucial role in constructing one of the nation’s most environmentally responsible healthcare facilities. With over a dozen different wall systems and facade elements, including curtainwall, rain screen metal panels, structural precast panels, and louvers, the enclosure system is a testament to our commitment to superior design and engineering. We incorporated more than 20 types of glass, each selected for specific performance needs, from solar control to bullet resistance. Our dedication to sustainability is reflected in our use of local union labor and local product and service buyouts. The Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital achieved LEED Gold certification in 2015, making it Indiana’s first building to earn this prestigious designation. “In addition to participating in the construction of a top-quality hospital, we look forward to working with city leaders to make a positive contribution to the community, as we have done in other communities in which we have worked,” says Adam Peine, general manager of the project. At Enclos, we are dedicated to providing adaptable, cost-effective, and dependable facade solutions. Enclos' Austin Bensend, Director of Design Engineering, was recently featured in USGlass Magazine®. "One way to think of [structural glass], is that the glass replaces something traditionally metal, concrete, masonry or timber. The glass is capable of replacing those elements if designed properly." Click the link in the post below to dive deep into the use of structural glass and structural silicone glazing.
It's a new month, meaning a new issue of USGlass magazine has arrived. The May issue has officially dropped, bringing with it a slew of stories covering the rise of secondary glazing, a preview of AIA ‘24 and a dive into the differences between structural glass and structural glazing. The issue also officially opens the sixth edition of our Annual Design Awards. Get those submissions in. May’s feature stories include: - A deep look into the difference between structural glass and structural glazing. The two are different in many ways. - An analysis of why government initiatives focus on secondary glazing as a preferred tool to reduce carbon emissions. - A preview of AIA ‘24 and what products you can expect to find on the show floor. - And, of course, much more.
