To conserve and protect the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the Eno River Basin.
About us
The Eno River Association is a 501c3 non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to conserve and protect the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Eno River basin. Since 1966, the Association has worked actively to protect the lands and waters along the Eno River and its tributaries. Our efforts to date have resulted in more than 7,000 acres of protected lands. These acres are largely contained within five public parks: the Eno River State Park, the Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, West Point on the Eno Durham City Park, Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve and the Little River Regional Park. The Eno River Association also engages in a variety of other activities, from environmental education to advocacy. We engage in advocacy for the protection of the river and the environmentally responsible development of our community, especially those lands nearest to the river and her tributaries. We host both a winter and spring hike series along the Eno River, to educate the community on the flora, fauna and history of the river. The Association also produces the fun and amazing Festival for the Eno. Now in its third decade, the Festival attracts over 20,000 people in July to the banks of Eno River for a two-day festival full of live music, craft artists and delicious food. All proceeds from the Festival for the Eno go toward the protection of Eno River conservation lands.

Learn How to Use the Newly Enhanced Climate Risk and Resilience Portal (ClimRR) Register Here: https://lnkd.in/erQdkXnx Dates: Wednesday 1/31 at 10 a.m. CT and Thursday 2/1 at 3 p.m. CT. How will climate hazards reshape your neighborhood by 2050: https://lnkd.in/erXPhtbJ The Center for Climate Resilience and Decision Science at Argonne National Laboratory Climate Risk and Resilience Portal (ClimRR; https://climrr.anl.gov/) is a free online portal that helps you understand future climate risks at the neighborhood level. Produced using a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) supercomputer to model over 60 climate variables, ClimRR data provides the most sophisticated, free dynamically downscaled projections for the United States. The tools let users visualize and analyze future climate hazards like extreme heat, heavy rainfall, wildfire and drought on top of layers of local demographic and infrastructure data. Community leaders, infrastructure managers, civil engineers and public safety officials can use ClimRR to build resilience against these impacts. Participants will learn to: - Generate a Local Report Assessing Future Climate Hazards and Community Impacts. The new climate projection page allows you to customize a report for your area, combining variables like population demographics with hazard projections. - Access Maps, Charts & Visualizations. Create easy-to-understand maps, charts and graphs so you can quickly find and communicate important climate risks facing your community. - Interpret Climate Hazard Data Points: Climate data can be overwhelming to explain and understand. Using the portal’s educational features, participants will learn to identify communities most at risk. Both ClimRR and the webinar are free, and you can register here for January 31 or February 1. A recording will be available for those who can’t attend. ClimRR was developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory in collaboration with AT&T, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the DOE’s Grid Development Office. It was named to the R&D 100 and won a Climate Registry Climate Leadership Award. Visit the ClimRR portal for more information.
