As part of Fife Business Week, we attended The Meet the Buyer event, based in Carnegie Conference Centre. This is the 4th year we have been fortunate enough to exhibit at the event, which allows local suppliers to discuss contract, supply chain and sub-contracting opportunities with public and private sector buyers. We found the presentation on the ‘Introduction to the Build Fife Programme’ really informative and enlightening. It was especially interesting and inspiring to hear Sarah Raeburn’s direct experience from Raeburn Training as to how this really benefited her and her company since she attended the course last year. It certainly sounded something not to be missed! We also enjoyed a thought-provoking and comprehensive session with Derek Hamilton, Category Manager, Fife Council on his Introduction to Corporate Procurement and Updated Scheme of Tenders. His talk began very humorously as he gave the audience some brief examples of the different – and rather diverse – ‘items’ he had had to purchase over the last 35 years! It was most fascinating and helpful to hear about all the various processes, legislation and regulations that have come into force in recent times and how climate, Community Benefits, Community Wealth Building and the local economy is at the heart of all their procurement practices. It was a fantastic event with a great opportunity to catch up with so many of our key networking partners, as well as making lots of new connections too, with some inspiring conversations about delivering meaningful Community Benefits and Social Value.
