About us
ESTAT Actuation builds electroadhesive clutches and brakes that are 10x lighter, 10x more compact, and 1000x more efficient than conventional clutch hardware. Our customers use our products to create robot designs that were previously infeasible in the mobile robotics, logistics robots, wearable robots, and manufacturing verticals.

If you are at #IMTS, you are probably interested in emerging technology. To see something truly new, stop by SCHNEEBERGER's Booth (#236035 North Hall Level 3) to see ESTAT's UltraSlim Linear Brakes side by side with SCHNEEBERGER's precision linear motion products. Four reasons to love our UltraSlim brakes: 📜 They are paper thin. With a thickness of only 0.015" (0.4 mm) our brakes can fit into any system in which you can squeeze two sheets of paper between your mover and your base. 🚫 🛠 No tools or major modifications required Our UltraSlim brakes install with peel-and-stick adhesives. This makes them perfect for retrofitting to existing systems. 🚫 🔌 No cabling to the platform, stage or carriage is needed. This eliminates messy cable routing and noisy compressors. 📏 Our brakes are magnetically transparent, so they will have no effect on nearby magnetic sensors such as SCHNEEBERGER Group's Absolute Measuring System (AMS). See you at IMTS! Pittsburgh Robotics Network

Breaking your conception of brakes: if you can fit two pieces of paper, you can fit a brake! Join us at the #Automate2024 Innovation Stage tomorrow, Thursday May 9th, at 12:45. Our VP of Engineering, Kirby Witte, will explain how you can retrofit your motion systems with our revolutionary electroadhesive brakes to keep your motors cool and help them last longer. Watch this video from SCHNEEBERGER North America to see exactly how our UltraSlim Brakes integrate with linear rails. #electrostatics #automation #linearbrakes #robotics

Reducing actuator energy consumption by up to 97%! Check out this awesome work from Erez Krimsky and Steve Collins at Stanford University using paper-thin low power electroadhesives sourced from ESTAT Actuation: https://lnkd.in/dqKVkXve It's really exciting to see electroadhesive clutches implemented in ways that make humanoids, mobile robots, and wearable robots much more efficient and practical.

For those of you in the exoskeleton hardware field, it can be difficult to find a actuator that provides high torque and backdrivability. Our electrostatic clutches provide a lightweight, low-profile, and power-efficient solution, allowing you to get the best out our your device. Check out our latest white paper for details!

It was great to present at the Carnegie Mellon University Percolator event last Friday! Great attendance, and a lot of excitement about our product line of electroadhesive brakes and clutches. I personally enjoy sharing about our journey spinning out from the university setting, and highlighting what it takes to built a hardware product!
