etch.club (Acquired by Whiteboard Advisors)

etch.club has been acquired! I'm delighted to join Whiteboard Advisors as VP and Editor of the EdSheet. ETCH has been a labor of love for the past 3 years. What started as a Clubhouse(!) chat with Lee Bradshaw, Clayton Dean, Tess Michaels, and Brady Colby evolved into a weekly newsletter and, eventually, a real business. Ben Wallerstein and the Whiteboard team went out of their way to support ETCH's growth throughout this journey, contributing both market insights and strategic advice on what the business could be. Joining forces was an easy decision and the whole team has welcomed me with open arms. I have a lot more to say on where the newsletter, investor database, and job board are headed under Whiteboard (we have big plans). And I wish I could thank every ETCH reader personally. As much as I enjoy writing, it was the late-night phone calls and emails, conference beers, and occasional corrections that kept me going. But, for now, thank you. I'm grateful for everything ETCH supporters have given me and hope you'll stick with me, and the Whiteboard team, as we grow.

One of my aspirations for etch.club is for it to grow beyond industry news and financial information. I want it to be a community that professionals use to advance their careers in EdTech. I started down this path by collaborating with Everett Reiss on the ETCH Jobs of the Week newsletter, which highlights an assortment of interesting EdTech jobs every week. Now, we've added Jeevan Balani to the mix! Jeevan is authoring the ETCH Growth Mini-series, which discusses the key skills and technologies that folks in EdTech Marketing and/or Growth positions should consider. This week Jeevan published The Anatomy of an EdTech Ad (Part 2 of 3), which breaks down how to use emotion effectively in an advertisement. Whether or not you identify as a marketer, marketing is often the key difference between a good EdTech company and a great one.
