Today, The San Diego Union-Tribune published an Op-Ed from EV Realty CCO Suncheth Bhat, outlining how a "YES" vote from #CARB on the #LCFS amendments would jumpstart California's push to electrify transportation. Truck electrification is the goal. As a founding #PACTCoalition member, we know that will take teamwork, innovation, and smart policy. PACT fosters collaboration across the sector around a common goal: scaling up charging infrastructure deployment and enabling heavy-duty electrification.

The Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) is one of the most important tools the state has to support the transition to zero emissions freight. It can help solve the "chicken or egg" problem that currently hinders freight electrification: fleet owners will not buy a truck they cannot charge, but investments in charging infrastructure will not happen without greater certainty around electric vehicle deployment. LCFS can bridge this gap. The #LCFS takes the freight transition out of neutral by unleashing billions of dollars in private investment. The climate and air quality impacts that electric trucks will deliver to CA residents - especially those in communities near ports, distribution facilities, and warehouse districts - are immense. The state and her residents can't afford to miss this opportunity. For these reasons, EV Realty urges the California Air Resources Board to vote YES on the LCFS amendments on November 8th. Today's release of guidance for the 30C infrastructure tax credit provides much needed clarity for the industry as we look to scale up charging infrastructure and accelerate transportation electrification. Most importantly, each charging port is defined as a "single item of property" for the purpose of credit calculation. This is essential for developers like EV Realty to know how the credit applies to our sites. We applaud The White House for recognizing that the key consideration is the number of vehicles that can charge simultaneously and defining the credit in a way that lets industry design the best solutions to meet fleet demand.
