    Championships happen here! 🏒 🏀 Washington, DC is proud to host the 2027 NCAA Men's Frozen Four and 2028 D1 Women's Basketball Regional at Capital One Arena. This marks the first time NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament games have taken place at Capital One Arena and just the second time the Frozen Four will be played in the District.     The #WalterEWashingtonConventionCenter has been awarded LEED Platinum green building certification! 🏆 The Convention Center achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions in areas including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. “I am thrilled to add our LEED Platinum certification to the city’s roster and make #WashingtonDC a leader in LEED-certified spaces," said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates.

    Events DC is excited to announce #WalkingTown's 25th year! 🎉 The annual event offers an array of guided tours across #WashingtonDC's eight wards, providing an opportunity for residents and visitors to explore the many historic hidden gems of the nation's capital. This year’s festivities included limited Summer Tours, the main tour program and a closing reception on September 22, honoring the contributions of tour guides, volunteers and participants.     Finally finishing off our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Wesley Scott of the Marketing department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose STRIVE because this internship is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the corporate world and solidify my passion for marketing. The program's reputation for providing hands-on learning experiences and mentorships from industry professionals was a major deciding factor for me. The chance for me to apply my skills to help Events DC and work on impactful projects is monumental for my professional growth. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of this internship is the people. Through this internship, I get to engage with and meet so many new and amazing individuals who are all passionate about what they do and driven to succeed. The collaborative environment at Events DC fosters a sense of community and support, making every day an opportunity to learn from my colleagues and mentors. The diversity of perspectives and the enthusiasm everyone brings to the table inspire me to grow both personally and professionally. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am most looking forward to working with the other interns on the final project, Family Day 2024. This project is the perfect way to really understand what it takes to plan, manage, and run an event from start to finish. I am excited about the opportunity to apply my organizational and creative skills to contribute to a successful event. Collaborating with my peers on such a significant project will provide invaluable experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and project management, all of which are essential skills for my future career in marketing.     Continuing our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Micah Brown of the Facilities department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose STRIVE because I wanted to take proactive steps in launching my career as a young adult. Events DC stood out to me as the best option, given my frequent visits to the convention center and my admiration for the extraordinary events it hosts. I was intrigued by the engineering behind these events and wanted an opportunity to showcase my own engineering skills. I just needed someone to give me a chance, and Events DC provided that opportunity. Through the STRIVE Internship, I've not only gained valuable hands-on experience in my future profession but also developed key skills such as patience, focus, professionalism, and determination. Choosing STRIVE has profoundly impacted my life, and I feel it was the perfect opportunity for me. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of the internship has been the entire experience—I’ve enjoyed every moment working at Events DC. Some highlights include assisting with the Amazon "AWS" event. Witnessing the transformation of the convention center to accommodate this major event was truly breathtaking. As my first significant event during the STRIVE internship, it was astonishing to see the transition from empty rooms to a polished, professional launch. This experience demonstrated to me that I have the potential to be limitless and inspiring. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am eager to enhance my engineering skills to the best of my abilities, and Events DC provides the ideal environment for achieving this goal. Additionally, I look forward to networking and connecting with individuals who share my career interests and aspirations. I believe that networking as a young adult is crucial for achieving success in life, and I am excited to learn how to effectively network at Events DC. I am confident that the tools and experiences I gain from this internship will pave the way for my future success.     Continuing our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Elijah Boyer-Sebastiani of the Finance department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose to join the internship program because I believe I could learn a lot from the finance department, and I could add a plethora of new skills to my resume. Additionally, with new experiences provided by Events DC, I can establish a deeper connection with the Washington, DC community. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of the internship so far has been working with the other interns on the group project. I enjoy playing a part in something larger as well as working on important details with the other interns in order to make sure the project comes out a masterpiece. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am looking forward to seeing the payoff for the final project. I am looking forward to seeing our project become an event and seeing the happy faces that come with it. Favorite quote? ⭐"There is no power but what the people allow you to take" - Mysaria from House of Dragons.
