“Funded by rightwing billionaires, Trump is running the most secretive presidential transition since the process was formalized through the Presidential Transition Act of 1963. He could be hiding plans even more extreme than Project 2025, all with zero transparency or accountability.” Read more about the dangers Trump's hidden transition planning poses to national security and economic stability in a new op-ed from our friend and transition expert Ann O'Leary in Newsweek:

Everybody’s Fight is a powerful new film series that sheds light on the harsh realities millions of women face under restrictive abortion bans. We’re proud to partner with Karlie Kloss in the fight for reproductive freedom, amplifying these stories and using her voice to push for policy change.
I’m proud to share that our new film series on reproductive freedom, Everybody’s Fight: An In Bloom Series, is out in the world today. It was an honor to produce for the first time with Phoebe Gates, who shares my passion for reproductive rights. This film would not have been possible without The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Culture House Media, Jessica Valenti, Kwajelyn Jackson, and so many others who shared their deeply personal stories with us. More than 25 million women and girls of reproductive age live in states that restrict abortion, and I firmly believe that our ability to fight against these bans starts with understanding their consequences. That’s why we created this series. We want to share these untold stories so everyone, not just women, are informed and empowered to make change. Everybody’s Fight: An In Bloom Series is available to stream on YouTube now. You can watch the full series here: https://lnkd.in/g4r--Sij

"I was a senior at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, 2021, when a 15-year-old student with a gun left the school bathroom, entered the hallway, and began shooting. My best friend Madisyn and I were walking from class, talking about normal things: what we were doing after school, an upcoming test. Then, all I remember is chaos. At 17, Madisyn was shot in our school hallway. She died there." Read this gutting, powerful op-ed from Madeline Johnson — a member of Team ENOUGH, Brady's youth-led initiative to prevent gun violence — talking about her own experience with gun violence and the need to defeat extremist Rep. John James in Michigan’s 10th House District. We’re proud to work with Brady: United Against Gun Violence to educate voters about the stakes in this election, defeat John James and the rest of the “Gun Lobby’s Freshman Five,” and ultimately secure a gun safety majority in the U.S. House. Read the full op-ed below and learn more about the Gun Lobby’s Freshman Five here: https://lnkd.in/gY9gxhPu
Opinion: I survived the Oxford High School shooting. And now I'm old enough to vote.

Last Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver included a great segment calling out the baseless attempts by election deniers to subvert the upcoming election - from attacking voter rolls to wreaking havoc on election administration. Our friends at All Voting is Local are featured in the piece for their important work to protect voters’ access to the ballot box and ensure every vote is counted. As Hannah Fried notes below, with just over two weeks until Election Day, make sure to check your voter registration and make your plan to vote! Read more about how it came together and check out the full clip here: https://lnkd.in/gaySxAxZ
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver nailed it with their “Election Subversion 2024” segment over the weekend. The piece highlighted how conspiracy theorists have spent the past four years weaponizing our elections to fuel the Big Lie – from lies that undermine voters’ confidence in the security of our elections, to creating chaos for election officials by baselessly challenging voters’ eligibility, all in the name of subverting the will of voters. And of course, my favorite part was seeing the powerful testimony from two members of the All Voting is Local Action Georgia team – Kristin Nabers and Marisa Pyle - about the Georgia State Election Board’s passage of drastic measures to require hand counting of ballots. This ruling would have done nothing more than sow doubt among voters and wreak havoc on election officials. A court’s decision to overturn that rule this week is a resounding win for Georgia voters – giving peace of mind to voters that their ballots will be counted on time and accurately. I’m also so glad that John Oliver took the time to remind his audience of the most important things voters can do right now: check your voter registration, make a plan to vote, and VOTE (early, if possible!). On-the-ground voting rights groups like All Voting is Local will be working night and day between now and the election - and in the days and weeks after - to make sure that every voter is able to cast their ballot, and that every vote is counted. That’s how we’ll uphold our democracy and ensure that voters decide the outcome of this election, not rogue political actors. Visit our website for more information on voter registration and casting your ballot: https://lnkd.in/eBDms4BV Watch the full clip here: https://lnkd.in/eU_ZqHRy.

Our team was excited to join Carbon to Sea Initiative in-person for HSST’s recent hearing to explore marine carbon dioxide removal approaches. Great to see substantive and bipartisan conversations happening around this exciting sector.
ICYMI, you can watch highlights from the first-ever Congressional hearing on marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) approaches below. Building on tens of millions of dollars in research funding allocated over the last eighteen months, this was yet another indicator of increasing and bipartisan U.S. government support for mCDR research.

Patagonia once again raising the bar for a simple, yet impactful election strategy! This year, the company is giving all employees a day off on October 29th (instead of November 5th) to encourage early voting and volunteering to get out the vote. Free, fair, and robust elections are good for every business. This year, it’s crucial that companies make it as easy as possible for employees to vote. Evergreen is proud to support Patagonia and our other partners in navigating this important election season.
To save our planet from the climate and nature crises, we must elect leaders who share our sense of urgency. Thank you The B Team for providing space for me to explain Patagonia’s 2024 election strategy, because a healthy planet with thriving communities depends on a strong democracy.

“There’s perhaps no issue on which the stakes are higher for our families and loved ones than the Supreme Court. That’s not a warning—it’s a rallying cry.” Our friends Skye Perryman (she/her) and Mini Timmaraju highlight in Ms. Magazine the ‘mom problem’ Donald Trump finds himself facing as a result of his stacking of the Supreme Court with extremist justices. Moms for a Fair Court — where Skye and Mini are both serving as Advisory Board members in their personal capacities — is tackling this issue head on, educating moms across the country on how the MAGA SCOTUS is hurting their families. The horrific events reported this week at Apalachee High School in Winder, GA are a grim reminder that gun safety is on the ballot this November. As details continue to emerge, one thing remains clear: there is no corner of the country where a 14-year-old should have access to a lethal weapon. Yet, the gun industry – protected by the blanket immunity provided by the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) – continues to market their products to minors. Our latest "The Background Check" explores Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’ innovative idea to sidestep PLCAA. Curious about how a Harris presidency could reshape gun industry liability? We're proud to see Karlie Kloss taking a strong stand for reproductive rights in Florida with her powerful piece in The Miami Herald today.
Today, I am proud to share my piece in The Miami Herald about the fight for reproductive rights in Florida. Last month, I visited the Michael Benjamin abortion clinic in Tamarac, Florida. I heard the stories of patient after patient navigating the state-wide abortion ban. They are just a few of the estimated five million women across Florida (and 25 million nationwide) who no longer have the freedom to make this deeply personal decision for themselves. Instead, anti-choice state legislators are making it for them. One out of three American women of childbearing age now lives under an abortion ban. That means a 13-year old rape victim in Mississippi was forced to give birth. It means a woman in Idaho miscarried for 19 days after being turned away by the ER three times because of abortion laws. It means women in Texas are losing fallopian tubes when hospitals refuse them abortion care amid ectopic pregnancies. There are economic consequences to abortion bans too: limiting women’s access to reproductive healthcare costs the American economy $68 billion annually. In Florida, abortion restrictions cost the state $6 billion a year and limit women’s economic potential. I’m grateful to learn from and stand alongside the doctors, advocates, and leaders who are tirelessly caring for those in need across organizations like Michael Benjamin Surgical Services, Abortion Bridge Collaborative Fund, and Abortion Care Network. This November, Floridians will have the power to guarantee access to reproductive healthcare across the state by voting YES on Amendment 4. The health and safety of women and girls across the state of Florida (and beyond) is at stake. Together, we can put these important decisions back in the hands of families and their doctors, not politicians. #YesOn4 #Florida https://lnkd.in/eTvaX9uu
