Awesome to see lines around the corner for our story share events at Northeastern University this week- more than 200 freshmen leaning in to connect, instead of just exchanging information about where they grew up, or what they plan to major in. 🤣 Big thanks to Northeastern’s Honors program (Becca Berkey, Ph.D. Clarque Brown) for inviting us in, and playing such an active role in helping students connect. Good luck to everyone starting college in Boston this week (and good luck to the rest of us living in the city on move in day 😳)! #storiesconnectus #everydayboston

About us
Everyday Boston is a nonprofit that connects neighbors across a divided city through the sharing of stories. We do this work in neighborhoods, schools, workplaces and prisons through a two-pronged model. First, we run workshops that strengthen the listening and communication skills Bostonians need to better interact with their neighbors. Then we provide opportunities- through story collecting projects and story share events- for residents to connect with people they might not otherwise know. Our vision is that Boston becomes the most connected city in America. Join us!

A story about the moment that made it all worthwhile. Big thanks to Emi for sharing, and to Jordan, our high school intern, for gathering up the courage to ask. #storiesconnectus #everydayboston

Shoutout to our awesome high school intern, Jordan, who’s pushed himself WAY outside his comfort zone this summer and completely crushed it. Just last month, he was wondering how on earth he’d ever be able to talk to strangers. Now, with the help of his mentors (thanks, Stephen Pina and Che Pope!), he’s interviewing neighbors on the street, listening to their stories at Everyday Boston’s conversation stations, and getting to know his city better along the way, from Eastie (where he lives) to Rozzie to Roxbury to Downtown to Mattapan. (Stay tuned for Jordan’s first interview later this week!) Big thanks to Malik Gomes Jonathan Gonzalez and Tanisha DeLeon at Youth Options Unlimited for connecting us to Jordan and to our other amazing intern, Dahlya, who’s been working away from our cameras this summer. She’s been whipping our databases into shape, doing tons of critical research, and giving us the benefit of her wisdom about the stories we’ve collected- what she sees in them, and what she wants us to highlight, so that others can see. Thank you, Dahlya and Jordan! You’re the best. #storiesconnectus #youth #voices #community #conversation #connection #citylife #boston #massachusetts

Seven hours of #conversations and #connections between people who may not have otherwise met: thank you, JP! Did you know that people consistently underestimate how good it feels to talk to a complete stranger? #facts If you need some courage, check out some of those sticky notes from our conversation station on Sunday. Then come find us at an upcoming conversation station: August 6: Eastie farmers market August 10: Rozzie farmers market August 11: Open Streets Hyde Park Because strangers are just neighbors you don’t know yet. #storiesconnectus #conversationstation #everydayboston
