Creating Better Places.

About us

Fairlawn is a dynamic real estate firm that specializes in acquiring, renovating, developing and managing real estate projects in the Midwest. Our team is committed to customer service and complete satisfaction for every single one of our residents, from a friendly wave and ‘how are you?’ to responding to your issues quickly and fairly. Because isn’t that what you should expect from your property manager? We sure think so. At Fairlawn, we run our business based on a few core values: Own It - Take responsibility, see things through to completion, and take pride in your work. You got this! Be Kind - Treat all residents, clients and fellow team members with kindness and respect. People Matter. Be Flexible - Push your comfort zone and be ready to grow. The only constant is change. Always Improve - If you find a better way, speak up. We can always be better. As long as our decisions are guided by these simple—yet powerful—values, we know we’ll provide our residents, clients, and team members with the best possible experience. Founded in July 2015, Fairlawn is a family company that’s quickly grown into a major player within the Midwest property management market. Today, we’re excited to provide management services across Central Illinois and Indianapolis, with our team of 140 (and counting). The purpose of this page is to share news and information about Fairlawn. Any postings that compromise privacy or confidentiality or are defamatory or attacking in nature will be removed. We are always looking to improve and welcome feedback by emailing publicrelations@fairlawn.com.

A few weeks ago we held our second annual budget workshop at Bloomington Country Club . Roughly 40 Fairlawners across our properties and offices were invited to attend and discuss budget planning tools and how to best prepare for the year ahead. However, this event wasn’t all work and no play! After day one wrapped up, we hopped on a bus which took us on a tour of all our nearby properties and developments. We then spent the evening having a blast at DESTIHL® Brewery and Beer Hall . We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and great energy the attendees brought to this two-day event. We are already looking forward to next year!

"Be proactive but with patience," recommended Gozen Hartman, our CEO, this week at the AppFolio Future Conference. Gozen joined Stacy Holden, Industry Principal and Director at AppFolio, Sharon Wilson Geno, President of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), and Shane Trigg, CEO of AppFolio in a keynote panel before an audience of around 2,000 industry professionals to discuss the role of technology and AI in shaping the future of real estate. She also participated in a panel regarding the importance of brand and reputation in our industry.   Maggie Sprague, our COO, also shared her expertise in a panel focused on student housing, where she discussed the unique challenges and opportunities in the student housing market.   Visit our website to learn more about what Gozen and Maggie shared during their time at the conference: https://lnkd.in/gvK2an4U #futureconference National Multifamily Housing Council

Super excited to be in San Diego for AppFolio's #FutureConference on shaping the future of real estate! I am looking forward to so much, but at the top of the list is taking the stage with the talented Laura Casanova and Rishi Khosla. We will be discussing how to build meaningful brands and how to take a proactive approach to reputation management. This timing is especially relevant to me as we started the roll-out of Fairlawn's new brand last week – so much work has gone into this over the past 1.5 years and I am proud of the result! Last week members of our Fairlawn team spent the morning at the Eastern Illinois Foodbank participating in Operation Orange, an event for Hunger Action Month! Our team joined other volunteers in repacking potatoes into 5-pound bags, which will then be distributed to members of our community. We always enjoy volunteering at the food bank and look forward to doing so again soon!

We wrapped up 'turn' with a party at our corporate headquarters last week featuring delicious food from Maize Mexican Grill! Over the past few weeks, Fairlawners ensured over a thousand units within the Champaign-Urbana metro area were move-in ready. We are so grateful for everyone's hard work, we couldn't have done it without you!

Our Smile Student Living team hosted some fantastic events last week to welcome students back to campus! Create Your Own Care Package, Smile Street Fest, Fla-Bingo, and the Kona Ice Truck are just a few from the line-up. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. The Smile team had a great time celebrating the start of a new school year with you all!

Be Kind, Be Flexible, Always Improve, and Own It are the core values we use to guide our decisions and run our business. These values make us who we are, and we are proud to see our employees exemplify these values every day! We asked our Fairlawners what their favorite core value is. Here is Senior Marketing Specialist Allison Ross' response.
