Nearby the infamous Area 51 in southern Nevada is the D/4 Enterprises cattle ranch, run by Steve and Glenda Medlin for roughly 40 years. When they established their beef operation in this desolate area, it had one watering hole and very little else – no electricity, no telephone, no house and no cattle for years. After years of hard work, the Medlins have built a successful 500-head cattle operation. The Medlins enjoy a fruitful partnership with Western AgCredit. Spread over thousands of acres of northern Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, Betsy Leager, husband Tom and their four sons operate multiple farms in a diverse operation. All four sons have their own farms, but “the family works together as a unit,” Betsy explains. The sons work in the shop all winter, keeping the family’s equipment in top condition. When a tornado struck the Ahmad Family Farm in April 2023, it destroyed six of their chicken houses. Yet, Mohammed Ahmad and his family didn’t give up. With support from Farm Credit, they began rebuilding right away. and are thriving once again with new chicken houses and growing flocks.
