Just wrapped up a fantastic business review on-site with ApolloMD. Since launching our partnership a couple of years ago, we've met or surpassed all the project goals for autonomous coding across hundreds of provider sites. Gathering with their team in Atlanta, we were thrilled to share the latest outcomes with Fathom, including: 📈 Volume: Over 2 million encounters processed so far this year, exceeding our goal of 1.7 million, and on track for ~3 million over the entirety of 2024. 🤖 Automation: Automation rates have reached 90%+ across sites, surpassing our 80% goal. 🎯 Accuracy: Coding accuracy rates have remained above the 90% goal, with recent audits validating 98.1% E/M accuracy. ⏱️ Turnaround: Coding turnaround times average < 4 hours. 🔓 Resources Unlocked: ApolloMD has been able to reinvest manual coding vendor spend into quality improvement, clinician education, and other priorities. It has been a pleasure to work with the forward-thinking leaders at ApolloMD, who have been growing their practice sustainably for 40+ years. As a physician-owned and physician-led group – comprising 1,500 physicians and more than 900 advanced practice clinicians – their steady growth is a testament to their patient-first culture and dedication to excellence. Over the course of this year, we have seen 24% growth in sites supported by Fathom, all while maintaining consistent automation and accuracy levels. To ensure the highest-quality coding, we conduct monthly pulse check audits in which we review a sample of Fathom's coded charts against both national standards and ApolloMD guidelines. Our collaborative process goes beyond simply sharing audit results – we actively engage with ApolloMD's revenue cycle team to review the findings. By analyzing the same charts together, we collectively identify trends, challenges, and opportunities as we process and improve our coding. We're excited to continue supporting a stellar provider organization that is setting new standards for excellence in RCM and clinician experience. Thank you to Amy Katnik, Michael Lipscomb, MD, Tennille Lizarraga, and Laura Springer for your partnership! And big kudos to the Fathom team members supporting ApolloMD: Enoch Shih, Jimmy Sabandith, Shannon Darling, Taylor Webster, and Mallory Kohn! #MedicalCoding #MedicalBilling #RevenueCycleManagement #ArtificialIntelligence #Healthcare #ApolloMD

Excited to see the autonomous coding buyer's guide that Elion Health released earlier this week! There is a lot of great detail in this guide – and we encourage folks to read it in full – but here are a few points that especially stood out to us: ⭐ Autonomous coding vs. computer-assisted coding: "... to be considered autonomous coding, a solution should require zero human intervention for the charts coded by the engine and sent straight to billing ...." Beyond autonomous vs. CAC definitions, underlying technology drives automation performance, so probing into technical approach and architecture is an essential part of vendor diligence.  ⭐ Specialty coverage: "... assess which of your high volume specialties have the biggest gap in professional coding coverage, and whether the vendor provides coverage of those high-volume specialties to make the integration worthwhile." Especially for health systems, broad specialty coverage is important for enterprise-wide impact and reduces vendor bloat. ⭐ Service level agreements (SLAs): "Given how metric-driven success in autonomous coding is, it’s possible to partially de-risk vendor decisions through vendor commitment to aggressive SLAs for automation rates, accuracy rates, and turnaround times for encounters." In our view, strong SLAs are increasingly important for providers to realize the forecast ROI and they help to differentiate vendor performance. For organizations considering autonomous coding, this guide provides a great overview and framework to think through. What else stood out to you? 🌟You may have noticed a new face on Fathom's conference circuit lately – meet Luke Anthony Peña, a key addition to our Sales and People teams! 🌟 Luke's connection to healthcare began in childhood. At eight, his mother returned to college to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. This pivotal experience sparked Luke's passion for healthcare and instilled in him a deep appreciation for education's power to change lives. With over a decade at the helm of admissions and talent programs at Stanford University, Harvard University, and Dartmouth College, Luke brings vast experience in recruiting, community-building, and business development. He led Stanford's Knight-Hennessy Scholars program, championed diversity in MBA admissions at Tuck, and drove record-breaking admissions results at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. "I have the good fortune of serving both our sales and talent teams, which are ultimately two sides of the same coin: I either create opportunities for others to contribute to building our solution, or I help clients discover how they can benefit from using it." Check out his blog to learn more about Luke and his decision to join Fathom: https://lnkd.in/enBi3kAP P.S. We're hiring! What's the true enterprise-wide cost of coding errors? In this recent article for BC Advantage Magazine (Billing-Coding, Inc), the Fathom team breaks down how coding inaccuracies impact healthcare organizations beyond just denied claims – and how AI is helping forward-thinking leaders turn these challenges into opportunities. This covers: 💫 Types of impacts: How coding inaccuracies cascade negative consequences through administrative costs, lost or delayed revenue, and disrupted cash flow. 💫 Where the challenge lies: Increasing complexity (e.g., 70,000+ possible ICD-10 codes) and changing payer rules or guidelines. 💫 What AI delivers: Improved accuracy (exceeding 95% benchmark), heightened revenue capture (additional RVUs), and reduced denial rates – all while reducing costs by 30-50%. Read the full article to learn how organizations are overcoming these accuracy challenges with autonomous technology: https://lnkd.in/eXd9s8ma #MedicalCoding #MedicalBilling #RevenueCycleManagement #ArtificialIntelligence #Healthcare
