The flashy fancy pedigree your VC is recommending is used to a soft cushioned seat on the throne of a well-oiled machine with a clear instruction manual. The kind of Sales Leader who can help you win logo recognition will not come from a logo you recognize. Look for the signs in their resume that show they’ve found success in the trenches of a no-name company with scarce resources. They know what systems and processes need to be built because they had to build them for themselves. Hire for resourcefulness when you don’t yet have resources.
