At the October Open Meeting, we: • adopted new rules establishing that 100% of all mobile handsets—such as smartphones—must be compatible with hearing aids. • approved rules that would require all U.S. wireless carriers to implement georouting for calls to the 988 Lifeline. • shared updates to maternal health data in the Mapping Broadband Health in America platform. https://lnkd.in/eE5x9BrN

We're launching a formal inquiry into the impact of limiting internet usage. For many, rationing internet is unthinkable in a world where work, school, and resources have moved online. We've launched a portal where consumers can share the impact data caps have on them. https://lnkd.in/dpmcPX4U

Today we released a resource guide to help schools and libraries evaluate their cybersecurity risks and find the most impactful solutions. Given the budget and resource constraints facing schools and libraries, the guide highlights free and low-cost options and focuses on the most impactful initial steps and offers guidance and resources to help schools and libraries keep their broadband networks secure. The resource guide will help schools and libraries interested in applying for our recently launched Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program, which will award up to $200 million over a three-year term. https://lnkd.in/euj-S5A4

We adopted new rules to help connect remote, unserved, and underserved areas to high-speed broadband by expanding the ability of satellite operators to deploy broadband and other satellite communications in the 17 GHz spectrum band. Spectrum is the lifeblood of satellite network operations. By providing a contiguous 1300 megahertz of spectrum for non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) fixed-satellite service operations in the 17.3-17.8 GHz band, the FCC is promoting competition and empowering technologically innovative and enhanced satellite services to the benefit of American consumers.
