To really measure success an organization must have a clearly understood goal. On your organzational journey, you can't tell if you have arrived until you decide where it is you are going. Set goals that are clearly stated and commonly understood. Only then you will find you are able to chart your progress.

FORK provides nutritional support to children from food insecure homes in 3 Vilas and Oneida County School Districts.
About us
FORK is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit providing nutritional support to children from food insecure homes within the Northland Pines, Three Lakes, and Phelps School Districts. To accomplish this mission, FORK has identified 4 areas by which our organization’s success will be measured. It is through these pillars that we strive to ensure that hunger does not stand in the way of success for any child. 1 The first of these measures is how we gauge the success of our 3 local nutritional support programs: FORK Cares, Meals NOW, and our 10 Children’s Pantry locations. 2 Secondly, FORK will actively collaborate with other local organizations, businesses, and individuals who are also focused on the issue of childhood food insecurity. 3 The third pillar of our success will be built through the organization's active efforts to educate the broader community. * Build a common understanding around the challenge of food insecurity * Provide broader access to information regarding the support programs to those families struggling with food insecurity 4 Finally, the most critical measure of FORK and our success will be this organization's financial sustainability. Both in support of the critical needs of food insecure children today, and our responsibility to face down chronic long-term food insecurity into the future.

Gov. Evers Announces: Support is Available for Many Northern Wisconsin Businesses Affected By Lack of Winter Snow. This is great news for many struggling businesses in our area! (Please spread the word.) As a nonprofit organization who is focused on childhood food insecuroty, we ask all our elected representatives to consider similar support for children whose families are impacted by the same lack of snow for their financial security Supporting local business is important... supporting children is important too!

Our community partners in 2023 make all things possible. Schools: Teachers, support staff, & administrators identify children who need support and help us get food to them. Banks and Credit Unions: The seven Eagle River financial institutions hold an annual "CashFORKids" fundraiser, which raised over $28,000 in 2023. County Social Service Depts administer our our Family Food Helpline and distribute FORK NOW grocery vouchers to families in need. Churches: We've helped raise over $20K for churches providing weekend backpacks for children and many area churches have financially supported us. Food pantries: We help promote use of our area food pantries through FORK Extra grocery vouchers given to newly registered families.

Letters to over 75 Vilas and Oneida county churches are ready to mail. Inside are business cards printed with information on the Family Food Helpline and FORK's Food Security Resource Guide. With these cards, individuals can access information about the free food programs in their hometowns. These cards are a tool for our local clergy to utilize in the counsel of the food insecure members of their congregation. Our religious leaders are the first to stand in support of families challenged by economic hardships. Thank you to all those who dedicate their lives to this work!
