This year’s Fork Fight honors the history of the land on which Causeway Center now sits: a drive-in movie theater. Years ago our community would gather to be captivated by stories on a big screen, while today we're inspired by the stories of resilience from our own neighbors facing hunger. We look forward to the ways this event will make our community flourish!

"Learning What Students Really Need with Lauren Leto of Brandon High School" There are currently only two "community" schools in Hillsborough County, so as the Resource Teacher at Brandon High, Lauren Leto had to blaze a few trails to support her students. And one of the first things she found when she began talking to families in the community was that their most basic needs weren't being met. Before the conversation could start about raising the school's grade or overall test scores, students and families needed access to consistent, healthy meals, and to feel like they could count on someone to listen to and care for them. On today's episode we talk with Mrs. Leto and one of her student helpers, Pierre, about the impact these resources have had on their school's community, and how something as simple as a food pantry can change lives for the better. Thank you Stephanie Conners for joining us at the Causeway Center! It's innovative partnerships like ours with BayCare Health System that will create a healthy and thriving Tampa Bay!
Communities that come together are bringing about stronger outcomes. I am grateful to have spent some time at Feeding Tampa Bay and Thomas Mantz this morning to tour their new headquarters, including a visit to BayCare Health System's Health Education Center and wellness rooms on-site. I’m very proud of the work we do together, including our healing bags program, which screens patients for food insecurity. In the last 18 months, we screened more than 311,000 patients and have sent nearly 18,000 of them home with nonperishable food upon their discharge. Thank you to FOX 13 Tampa Bay and Charley Belcher who also shared our work together with the community! #BayCareProud
