Nationally standardized reporting requirements and a Quality Measure Set (QMS) for HCBS programs are vital components of the Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services Final Rule, published in April of this year by CMS. Among other features, these new quality measures require states to adopt one or more of the listed ‘‘experience of care’’ surveys and periodically report on their findings. Check out our fact sheet for more information on the guidelines and an overview of the Access Rule.

Our Director of Clinical Services, Angela Sanders, PhD, and Vice President of Business Development, Brenda Berry, together with our partners from the State of Maryland Department of Health, presented an intensive session at last week’s NASDDDS Directors Forum and Federal Policy Symposium in Washington, D.C. We’re proud to participate in this event and partner with NASDDDS in promoting visionary leadership, systems innovation and the development of national policies that support home- and community-based services for individuals with disabilities and their families.

We're a proud sponsor of the NASDDDS Directors Forum and Federal Policy Symposium in Washington, D.C., this week. The conference is focused on the recently finalized CMS Access Rule, and tomorrow we'll lead a discussion of the rule as it relates to critical incident management requirements with our partners from the State of Maryland Department of Health. Check out our fact sheet on the newly defined critical incident management procedures here.

At the conference there was a lot of conversation around funding for behavioral health and substance use disorder programs and services, and many states are preparing to submit applications for SAMHSA’s fourth State Opioid Response Grant. Our recent blog provides more information about how states and agencies can use this funding to address the issue of escalating opioid misuse in their communities.
