  • We are proud to present our 2023 With Care campaign featuring our members and the individuals that make it happen, our Difference Makers. Their dedication and passion for our mission drives our efforts to meet our members where they are, when and how they need it. As a local company, it’s essential we support local businesses and approach each project with a diverse, equitable lens. For our campaign, it was important to us to use a local agency partner, with a talented female lead producer and staff, to bring this campaign to life. Watch the campaign here. With Care,

  • At CareFirst, we’re incredibly thankful for the sacrifices and services that veterans have performed for our country. It’s one thing to be told something is possible. It’s another thing entirely to see that someone—and someone like you—has done it. For Kevin Park MD, joining the PROPride Employee Resource Group (ERG) provided him the opportunity to show that an LGBTQ+ person of color can be successful in a large corporation. Kevin, who is CareFirst’s Vice President of Clinical Operations, joined PROPride in 2020 early in his career at CareFirst. With his promotion to Vice President, he shifted his role within the ERG to Executive Sponsor and is continuously finding new ways to champion the group. He’s excited by the passion and energy of PROPride’s leadership and sees the importance of its mission to drive positive change in our community. He encourages LGBTQ+ community members and allies alike to help protect the progress made by previous generations and stand up to those who would turn back the clock. #CareFirstCares #DifferenceMakers #PrideMonth

  • Our new Vice President of State Government Affairs Kimberly Robinson joined us for Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC)’s Annual Dinner to celebrate the talent and organizations who make Montgomery a great place to work, live and play. As one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit healthcare organizations, we proudly support programs that advance good health for all, especially those in our local communities. In addition to our recent partnership with Fabric Health, which brings care coordinators to laundromats in Montgomery County, we’ve been longstanding supporters of the MCCC to support the wealth and health of our local community. Congratulations to all the award winners! We’re looking forward to what you’ll accomplish next for our community.

At CareFirst, we’re committed to inspiring and fostering growth in our next generation of leaders. We were proud to host Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota for a collaborative community and youth leadership forum at our Washington, D.C. headquarters. This event brought together executives from our organizations to motivate and empower students to network with accomplished business and industry leaders. Speakers shared their professional journeys and discussed ways to develop a meaningful career so that students may further good health and opportunity in their communities. Students also had the exciting opportunity to attend a Washington Wizards pre-game warmup. They also connected with the Head Coach of Sidwell Friends School to discuss the importance of teamwork, leadership and perseverance. • June is #PrideMonth—a time to celebrate the lasting impact that LGTBQ+ individuals have had on history and culture. It’s also a time to reflect on hard-won progress for the LGBTQ+ community and acknowledge the continued work to be done to safeguard the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals everywhere. Clay Strohmenger, Customer Service Associate, knows this—that’s why joining the PROPride Employee Resource Group (ERG) was one of the first things he did when he started at CareFirst in 2022. Clay works in Charleston, West Virginia, where he volunteers at various events including the Covenant House Annual Christmas Pride Dinner and the Fairness West Virginia Annual Gala. Clay feels a special need to show LGBTQ+ employees, members and providers that they’re seen and well cared for in their hometown. For 2025, Clay and other PROPride members are working hard to expand CareFirst’s Pride celebrations throughout the region and further support the LGBTQ+ community. #CareFirstCares #DifferenceMakers
