Today I cleaned out some filing cabinets in our studio in preparation of our upcoming move. I sorted some plan sets from my pre-FA days (the memories) and 3 Rolodex full of business cards. I took the time to review every one… there where lots of people I don’t remember but there were also 100+ cards of people that taught, coached, guided, informed, and guided me through $1B+ of projects over a 26-year career. I kept every card from those that impacted me. As I reflect on my career, some of these mentors/partners have passed. Many have retired. Some have changed industries. Many have worked at 2-5 companies (I kept every card). I am fortunate to still be here contributing, collaborating, growing, learning and challenging. I’d like to thank all of those who have worked with me, challenged me, taught me, dealt with my BS graciously, and inspired me to be better. I hope I have earned your investment and I hope I have amplified your investment and given back to those in my sphere of influence. I doubt Ferguson Architecture would be as successful without you. If you read this and know you made me better, let me know and I’ll buy you a drink or coffee. I could not have done this without you. I am working hard to inspire, teach, guide, and challenge the next generation. I hope I succeed at least as well as you all did for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
