HART-IP Technical Description now available for you to learn why it is the ideal #protocol for #instrumentation, infrastructure, and software. HART-IP is the HART protocol over IP at the speed of Ethernet. In short, you don’t have to call your system integrator because HART-IP is an instrument protocol, not a PLC protocol. HART-IP is already used in #automation systems in Ethernet field devices like valve instrumentation and in instrumentation infrastructure like WirelessHART gateways, #HART multiplexers, and safety instrumented system (SIS), as well as in software such as intelligent device management (IDM), vibration analytics, and equipment analytics. HART-IP will be ideal for the future #EthernetAPL devices. Key attributes that make HART-IP user-friendlier than other protocols: ⚙️Sharing network with other protocols (e.g. motor controls) using same FDI tool ⚙️Interoperability enabled by universal and common practice commands as well as FDI ⚙️Coexists with other industrial and non-industrial protocols ⚙️Dedicated port, UDP, and DiffServ for real-time process I/O independent of non-real-time communication ⚙️Fully routable across the Internet and to the cloud ⚙️LLDP automatic topology recognition ⚙️PTP and NTP clock synchronization ⚙️Timestamped event notifications on instrument configuration change, status alarm, or diagnostics alarm ⚙️Mandatory standard TLS, DTLS, Syslog, and dedicated port for cybersecurity including access control ⚙️SafeHART protocol for functional safety ⚙️Safety and non-safety instruments coexist on the same network ⚙️Same instrument in safety or non-safety applications ⚙️Safety and non-safety instruments commissioned the same way ⚙️Works across ring topology network like Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP) and dual network with redundant #Ethernet switches like Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) ⚙️Well-defined universal and common practice commands enable systems to automatically establish process I/O on instrument commissioning and replacement ⚙️Universal and common practice commands enable multi-vendor interchangeability ⚙️SNMP for network administration including infrastructure backup and restore ⚙️32-character device tag ⚙️FDI package upload from field instrument ⚙️Instrument firmware download ⚙️Bulk download of offline configuration ⚙️DHCP automatic addressing ⚙️Indication of device family (device profile) ⚙️Universal and common practice commands support core parameters ⚙️FDI software user interface ⚙️FDI support enables manufacturer independent software user interface ⚙️Configuration change flag for configuration management ⚙️NAMUR NE107 status signals for instrument diagnostics ⚙️Independent #interoperability test and registration May look very familiar to #NAMUR NE168 readers
