There are going to be major changes to the IWUIC in Austin come mid-October this year and all Architects and Developers working there should be aware of the impacts that are likely to affect all combustible construction throughout the City. They are nearing the end of public comment for the proposed amendments, so let your voice be heard!
Please join the Austin Fire Department Prevention Division for a presentation on the proposed 2024 International Wildland-Urban Interface Code and local amendments. Time for questions and answers will be available at the end. 2024 Wildland-Urban Interface Code Location: Zoom Date: Monday, June 24 Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm Register to Participate: https://lnkd.in/g8YpBP9G Next Steps: Provide all comments in writing through Speak up Austin (https://lnkd.in/gzTUDGS4) no later than June 28th. All input received on Speak Up Austin will be submitted to the Austin City Council by September 2024. The International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC) is a model code developed by the International Code Council. It establishes requirements for land use and the built environment within designated wildland-urban interface areas using prescriptive and performance provisions. The code is intended to work as a system of its requirements, providing a comprehensive and holistic approach to enhancing building resilience from wildfires.
