As we continue to process the big news about Mark Fisher's role in the historic discovery on Everest announced last week, we wanted to revisit another unforgettable, historic adventure Mark and Fisher Creative were a part of. In August 2013, a group of seven climbers—five Americans and two Burmese—embarked on an expedition to the farthest reaches of northern Myanmar with the goal of making the first ascent of Gamlang Razi, Southeast Asia’s disputed highest peak. The team trekked over 270 miles on foot through some of the most remote, untouched corners of the planet. Along the way, they encountered villagers who had never before seen westerners and faced extreme challenges, traveling through swamp, jungle, and alpine environments while braving extreme weather conditions and an array of wild jungle creatures. The incredible story was told in our 2014 film, Myanmar: Bridges to Change (which also features a sick original score by Christopher Child/Kodomo). The stories from the expedition are legendary here at Fisher Creative, and it still holds the title of being the gnarliest production trip we've ever done. If you're passionate about sustainable building, there's a great opportunity to hear directly from the architects behind the home featured in our film In Pursuit of Passive. The film follows the construction of the first net-zero, Passive House in the Grand Tetons-Yellowstone region—one of the most challenging climate zones in the US. Tomorrow, from 12-1 pm EST, Green Home Institute is hosting a screening of In Pursuit of Passive followed by a Q&A with architects Lindsay Schack and Lindsey Love. The event is free and provides Continuing Education credits for those interested. We’re still in awe of Mark Fisher’s involvement—alongside Erich R. and Jimmy Chin—in the incredible Everest discovery of what are believed to be Andrew “Sandy” Irvine’s sock, boot, and partial remains. What’s it like to suddenly uncover a piece of history connected to a 100-year-old mystery? As Mark told NBC News, “It was just full freak-out, you know, F-bombs and people were like, ‘Oh my god!’” The emotions and gravity of this discovery are beyond words. And knowing it may finally offer some closure to Irvine’s family makes it all the more meaningful. WOW! Some epically historic news has left us absolutely speechless at Fisher Creative today! Since late August, our very own Mark Fisher has been in the Himalayas as part of a National Geographic documentary team filming for an upcoming National Geographic Documentaries project. During the course of the project, while traversing the Central Rongbuk Glacier below the north face of Mount Everest, a group consisting of Mark and fellow filmmakers Erich R. and Jimmy Chin came across a piece of history relating to one of the greatest unsolved adventure mysteries of all time. What happened to Andrew "Sandy" Irvine, the British mountaineer who vanished alongside famed climber George Mallory in their attempted first ascent of Everest in June 1924? Despite numerous attempts in the 100 years since, no evidence of Irvine's body had ever been found. Until this past September, that is, when the National Geographic team stumbled upon what is believed to be Andrew Irvine's boot and sock (photo by Jimmy Chin). Read more about the incredible discovery in this National Geographic article: https://lnkd.in/degbNnBq #MountEverest #AndrewIrvine #MalloryExpedition #BreakingNews #HistoricalDiscovery #NationalGeographic #UnsolvedMystery Rogue Rep
