The depot is also the depot repair point for the drive and rotary systems of the MQ-8B Fire Scout. The depot overhauls, assembles and tests a number of aircraft engines, including the F402 (AV- and TAV-8B), the T400 (UH-1N), the T64 (CH-53E, and MH-53E), and the T58-400B (in support of the Presidential VH-3D Sea King). The depot is also establishing capability on the F-35B Lift System, T408 (H-53K) King Stallion, RQ-21 Blackjack, and T700 (CT7-8A6) in support of the Presidential VH-92A. FRCE has the capability to repair nearly 20,000 distinct aircraft components, ranging from the repair of intricate circuit cards and instruments to the overhaul and testing of main gearboxes. This support covers nearly 200 types, models, and series of aircraft. FRCE also provides worldwide aeronautical engineering, logistics, and program management support in both the maintenance and design fields, and works side-by-side with FRCE production artisans developing and refining overhaul, repair, test and troubleshooting procedures. Engineers and logisticians at FRCE support all vertical lift aircraft for the Navy and the Marine Corps, as well as the C-130, the RQ-21 and selected components. The command's customers include all Navy and Marine Corps aviation activities, 30 foreign nations, five Air Force activities, three Army activities, and two federal agencies.

  • FLYBY FRIDAY! During the maintenance, repair and overhaul process at Fleet Readiness Center East, aircraft and their components pass through many of the depot’s specialized shops, with the Aircraft Paint Shop often serving as their final stop before returning to the Fleet. The Aircraft Paint Shop helps ensure aircraft are equipped to support our troops during deployments and missions by maintaining their exterior surface. The shop's artisans prime and paint every aircraft that passes through FRCE. While these processes make aircraft look nicer, their main purpose is to improve safety and performance. Because the aircraft flown by our nation’s warfighters often operate in some of the world’s most extreme conditions, paint and exterior coatings are crucial for the aircraft’s longevity. This week, the shop’s artisans sand a Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey in preparation for a fresh coat of paint. • EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT This month, Fleet Readiness Center East celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month and recognizes the invaluable contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. In this week’s spotlight, Industrial Material Analyst Julie Maguire explains why she joined the Individuals with Disabilities Action Team: “I discovered the Individuals with Disabilities Action Team through a posting in News and Announcements, which covered the topic of EEO and the reasonable accommodations process. I recognized this as a valuable opportunity to deepen my understanding of the process and to connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges.” Each October, the United States Department of Defense honors National Disability Employment Awareness Month, celebrating the invaluable contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” underscores the DoD’s commitment to enhancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. #NDEAM #NDEAM2024 #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth

  • FRCE DELIVERS FINAL AV-8 HARRIER TO FLEET Fleet Readiness Center East marked the end of an era with the completion of its final AV-8B Harrier maintenance event, delivering the aircraft to Marine Attack Squadron 223 onboard Marine Air Station Cherry Point Sept. 26. FRCE celebrated the platform’s depot maintenance finale with an informal ceremony Sept. 20 in the command’s AV-8 hangar. FRCE Commanding Officer Capt. Randy Berti and leaders from the AV-8B Weapon Systems Program Office (PMA-257) recognized members of the depot’s Harrier team, both past and present, for their efforts in supporting the legendary aircraft throughout the years. Many of the depot’s AV-8 aircraft maintenance professionals have spent a significant portion of their careers working on the Harrier. Aircraft Overhaul and Repair Supervisor Mike Stewart said it’s hard to see the platform come to an end. “I’ve been working on the AV-8 platform for the past 30 years,” said Stewart. “It’s the only platform I’ve ever known, dating back to the start of my career in the Marine Corps in 1994 to 2011, when I began working here at FRC East. “With that, I know that every aircraft has its service life,” Stewart continued. “We must evolve by improving our technology and tactics. F-35 is that new technology; it’s how we keep up and move to the future. Although the AV-8 is a great aircraft, it has served its purpose. It’s time to move on to the newer weapons platforms with more capabilities.” You can read more on Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) News at https://lnkd.in/enFYb5w7 Commander Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing #AV8 #Harrier #aviationmaintenance #militaryaviation #servicetothefleet

  • FLYBY FRIDAY! Just like the brake pads in your vehicle, many aircraft parts experience wear and tear over time. However, unlike brake pads, not all aircraft parts can be easily replaced. This is where the Fleet Readiness Center East Repair Machine Shop steps in. By reconditioning old, worn parts and restoring them to nearly new condition, the shop plays an important role in keeping the fleet operational and safe. With roughly 20 work centers and 70 highly trained machinists, the shop reconditions everything from helicopter transmissions to jet engine components. The shop’s rework techniques are vital as many of the US Navy and United States Marine Corps aircraft maintained by FRCE operate in some of the world’s most extreme conditions, resulting in significant wear and tear. Not only do the shop’s rework techniques extend the life of essential aircraft components, but they also allow FRCE to continue to produce capable, combat-ready aircraft for our nation’s warfighter. #servicetothefleet #AircraftMaintenance #militaryaviation Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Commander Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC)

In this week’s spotlight, Rachel Martin, a production controller in the Component Paint and Clean Shops, discusses how her experience with disability has influenced her career: "It has taught me that my disability doesn’t have to define who I am or what I become. I can succeed and help show others they can, too!" • FLYBY FRIDAY! Heavy-lift helicopters play a vital role in fleet operations. The CH-53E Super Stallion is the heavy-lift helicopter used by Marines around the world and is capable of rapidly transporting troops and equipment from ship-to-shore. The Navy uses the MH-53E Sea Dragon for mine hunting, sweeping and neutralization, and it too is capable of rapidly transporting troops and equipment from ship to shore. Fleet Readiness Center East proudly supports the H-53 heavy-lift helicopters by providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services. The depot’s H-53 production line is equipped with highly skilled artisans who help ensure every H-53 that goes through the depot is mission-ready. #servicetothefleet #aviationmaintenance #militaryaviationn Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Commander Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC)
