The WSJ recently featured an article discussing a Disney data leak earlier this summer, revealing millions of data points, including sensitive revenue figures. For Disney's competitors, this data could serve as a valuable benchmark. However, as a CI practitioner, the question arises: should the obtained data be used? This presents a grey area, considering the data was accessed unlawfully and made public. In my view, regardless of its origin, confidential information should be handled cautiously, if used at all. There are no clear right or wrong answers in this situation, and as I'm not a business law expert, I refrain from giving advice.
