𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Spotlight series; - meet Niharika Sharma, Wireline Field Engineer at Baker Hughes Niharika is the first in her family of teachers to study engineering. She is now blazing a trail for women on offshore rigs in India, as part of Baker Hughes’s Oilfield Services and Equipment (OFSE) team. When Niharika hears the word “𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘”, her response is, “𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗠𝗘 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘!” She grew up in the far northern city of Shimla, the Himalayan part of India where it’s very cold and snowy. ''In my five years with Baker Hughes , I have traveled across India and wherever I go it is mostly hot, which is a welcomed opportunity.'' In 2023, Niharika led a team that made a huge discovery in the Bay of Bengal. They used special Baker Hughes technology to find two important gas deposits. “I am proud that I am able to contribute to wireline logging in India and bring more jobs to the team and to Baker Hughes.” Stories like Niharika's are essential for inspiring the next generation of women in the energy industry. When we see others succeeding, we believe we can too. Join us at the 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗻 on October 25th at the Lakeside Country Club, Houston to celebrate women like Niharika and continue the conversation about diversity and inclusion in the energy sector. Kicking off our #GenZintheField series we have Nia Harris This summer, Nia Harris, an Industrial & Systems Engineering student at the University of Oklahoma, got her feet wet in the oil and gas industry through an internship with bp energy in Houston. As a member of the Haynesville Operations team, Nia contributed to two projects aimed at boosting efficiency, reliability, and safety. Nia developed and implemented automated tools to streamline operations. This experience not only expanded her technical skills but also gave her a solid foundation in data-driven decision making. She’s excited to continue learning how data can optimize business processes. Go Nia Harris - We are rooting for you 👏👏

𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬: Did you know? wind turbines, often seen as symbols of green energy, are actually significant consumers of hydrocarbons? Their massive bases are made from steel-reinforced concrete, while the towers, nacelles, and rotors use nearly 200 tons of steel per megawatt of capacity. Plus, a mid-size turbine blade requires 15 tons of energy-intensive plastic resins. Also, it’s important to remember that the electricity sector is just a small piece of the broader energy landscape. Manufacturing, not just electricity, is the largest consumer of primary energy, with less than 15% of manufacturing energy coming from electricity—unchanged from 25 years ago. While advancements in electricity production are exciting, they represent only a fraction of our global energy system.
