    What a fantastic night we had! 🎉 Just ahead of the new EU mandate, we hosted a networking reception to discuss the path forward for modern fermentation, biotech, agriculture, and EU competitiveness. We heard from Giulia Del Brenna (DG GROW), Pierre Pelissier (DG RTD), and Robert van den Breemer (Those Vegan Cowboys ) — with an audience full of energy and ideas. A big thanks to Christian Poppe (Formo) and Sebastien Louvion (Standing Ovation) for moderating the conversation, and Jevan Nagarajah (Better Dairy) for his welcome words. The key word of the night? Collaboration! It’s time to strengthen our efforts to ensure the new mandate supports breakthrough innovations like #fermentation to power sustainable food systems in the EU. 🌍💪 The upcoming European Biotech Act will be essential to these efforts and must prioritise biotechnology in food production, recognising solutions like fermentation as strategic for building a resilient and sustainable food system. Thank you to everyone who joined and made the evening a success!

    Once again we experienced: in the avant-garde fermentation scene, collaboration is the new competition 🦾 This Tuesday in Brussels we indulged in togetherness as with our Food Fermentation Europe. We organized a shindig in Brussels to explore the synergies between modern fermentation, agriculture and the bioeconomy and see how the combo can make magic happen for the EU’s competitiveness on the road to more sustainable food. We loved catching up, making plans, and looking both back and forward into what it means to be a farmer as part of a changing food system, together with tall farmers’ sons in lab coats - hi Robert van den Breemer. Thanks FFE for putting it together - we got a big surge of energy from getting together.     🌍 What can we say other than 'yeehah!' Great presentation just now at the Future of Protein Production Amsterdam in our Facility Development & Scaling session, where Matthias Schmalisch from Formo and Will Van den Tweel from Those Vegan Cowboys took the stage to share the latest on cell-based and precision fermentation innovation! What were our takeaways? 1️⃣ Disrupting the dairy industry – Formo is leveraging precision fermentation to create animal-free dairy proteins, maintaining the taste, texture, and nutrition of traditional dairy products. Matthias emphasized the shift towards sustainability and the potential of precision fermentation in meeting global protein demand while minimizing environmental impact. 2️⃣ Scaling challenges and solutions – Will and Matthias discussed the complexity of scaling cell-based solutions. They highlighted the need for robust infrastructure, automation, and strong partnerships to ensure that these innovations can transition from niche to mainstream. 3️⃣ Consumer acceptance is growing – As consumers become more aware of sustainability challenges and open to alternatives, the importance of educating the market and creating awareness about the benefits of cell-based and precision fermentation products was a key point. 4️⃣ Collaboration is key – The session underscored the critical need for collaboration between startups, investors, and regulatory bodies.     Meet Robert van den Breemer, CCO of our member Those Vegan Cowboys . The son of a dairy #farmer of 5 generations, Robert was destined to take over the farm, but chose another path. Now, he is on a mission to craft delicious cheeses without the use of production animals 🧀. In Those Vegan Cowboys' lab in Belgium, 30+ scientists use precision fermentation to create casein made by a stain less cow, significantly reducing environmental impact while delivering the same products we all love.
