SNAP serves over 42 million people across the U.S., ensuring families, children, and communities have access to the food they need to thrive. But right now, this critical program is facing potential funding cuts and policy changes that could deepen inequality and weaken local economies, schools, and public health systems. Join us today for a live conversation with Salaam Bhatti, SNAP Director at the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), as we break down what’s ahead for SNAP and how we can work together to protect it. When SNAP is under attack, real people suffer. FRAC’s SNAP Matters resource shares testimonials from recipients about how the program helps them afford groceries and stay healthy. Cuts to SNAP would push more families into hunger. Read their stories: https://bit.ly/43MDXV0

Food Research & Action Center reposted this
🚨 They’re trying to cut SNAP—again. Right now, proposed budget cuts could take food away from people who need it most. After just three days of the #SNAPChallenge25, I’ve been reminded how hard it is to make every dollar stretch. 🍚 I’ve been eating the same meal over and over. I was grateful to have food, but I didn’t want to eat it again! I had to hype myself up just to finish it. 🛍️ At a work event, I watched people buy food—sandwiches, salads, anything fresh and different. But I didn’t have the money. 🍳 Every night, I prepped my meals just to avoid grabbing something on the go—because I knew I couldn’t afford it. Even with the small boost SNAP provides, there are people who still go entire days without eating. If this benefit is cut, even more families—especially children—will face hunger daily. For those navigating food insecurity, there’s no safety net. You eat what you have, whether you’re tired of it or not. You do the mental math constantly—on servings, budget, and how to stretch what little you’ve got. And instead of strengthening SNAP, leaders are discussing cutting it—making it even harder for people to get by. 📉 Cutting SNAP doesn’t reduce food insecurity—it deepens it. 🥗 We can’t talk about health and nutrition without acknowledging how expensive “healthy choices” are. 🙏🏾 I took this challenge to shine a light on the reality that millions of Americans—including thousands I support in my work—live every single day. 📌 This isn’t about bad decisions. It’s about limited options. We don’t need cuts—we need expanded access, more support, and real compassion. #SaveSNAP #SNAPChallenge25 #FoodInsecurity #FoodJustice #EndHunger #SNAPChallenge #HandsOffSNAP #NutritionAccess #SocialImpact #PolicyMatters Food Research & Action Center

Mark your calendar so you don't miss out on this important conversation!
Every community in every ZIP code should be a place where people can live their healthiest lives. And that starts by ensuring no one in this country goes hungry and that everyone has healthy food they need to thrive, especially our kids and grandkids. SNAP is one of our nation’s most effective food programs, but right now, the program is facing real uncertainty, from proposed funding cuts to changes to its benefits. To raise awareness of this important program’s impact and better understand the changes it’s facing, I’m sitting down with Salaam Bhatti, Esq., SNAP Director at the Food Research & Action Center, to discuss “The State of SNAP: What’s New and What’s Next.” I hope you’ll join us for this timely conversation at 3 pm ET on Wednesday, March 26! Gutting school meal programs doesn’t just hurt kids—it burdens schools, increases paperwork, and brings back unpaid meal debt. The House Budget Resolution could slash $12 billion from school meals. We should be expanding access, not taking food away from children. https://bit.ly/40oFWvm

School meals should be easier to access, not harder. But some in Congress are considering cuts that would make it more difficult for millions to get the nutrition they need. See how your state would be impacted in fact sheets: https://bit.ly/3DKc1q6

Tens of millions of people rely on SNAP to put food on the table. Proposed cuts to SNAP would make it harder for kids, veterans, older adults, and people with disabilities to get the nutrition they need. Tell Congress: #HandsOffSNAP! https://bit.ly/3Q833pn
