Leading the effort to eliminate hunger in our community.
About us
For more than 40 years, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore has provided over 350 million meals to those in our community who face hunger. Through our programs, facilities, and large network of community partners, we “eliminate hunger” on a daily basis for many. However, we understand that our current work addresses hunger for individuals in the short term. It does not address the root causes which force individuals to return to a food pantry again and again. This understanding has led to the creation of a strategic plan aimed to move Hampton Roads closer to achieving the mission of eliminating hunger for those we serve—not only for the day, or for the week, but for a lifetime.

Thank you to our volunteers from Chartway Credit Union who prepped the 757 Mobile Market yesterday! The Mobile Market provides nutritious food directly to our neighbors with limited resources and our volunteers ensure it's stocked and ready to go. Thank you for your continued support, Chartway FCU!

Another successful peanut harvest at Izzie's Field! Foodbank volunteers and staff visited the farm this week to help farmer Elisha Barnes with getting the peanuts ready via a method called "shocking." Once ready, they will be processed and sold by Hubbard Peanut Company, INC, with proceeds benefitting the Foodbank!

Students from Sewell's Point Elementary were able to provide their community with 186 meals! The school worked hard to support our neighbors facing food insecurity by hosting a cereal drive. Thanks, Sewell's Point! If you want to host a food drive, visit https://lnkd.in/eMKqnJ3D

Last week, volunteers from the U.S. Coast Guard IMAT donated their time at The Community Feed at Jordan-Newby! Having enjoyed giving back to their community, they've already signed up for monthly slots through the rest of the year! What's more, as a token of their appreciation for what the Foodbank does, they gave us one of their patches to keep. Thank you, volunteers!
