About us
Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center supports, empowers, and improves quality of life for Alabama breast cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones from the day of diagnosis through the balance of life. Forge was created by a partnership among Brookwood Baptist Health, Grandview Medical Center, Ascension St. Vincent's, UAB Medicine and the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. We provide a variety of resources and support, including help with transportation to medical appointments, nutrition assistance, free mental health counseling, support groups, lifestyle and health education classes, financial counseling, and help with any obstacle that stands in the way of healing.

Today is the first day for our fall intern Hiba Ahmed! Hiba is a doctoral occupational therapy student at University of Alabama at Birmingham and professional makeup artist. While at Forge, she will research the therapeutic use of makeup for women who have gone through past or active chemotherapy and measure the relation to their self-image. She is currently recruiting women to participate in this study and will teach them how to apply makeup over the course of three weeks pertaining to specific areas such as eyes, brows, lashes and face. Meet our summer intern Subrata Satyal! A native of Madison, Ala., Subrata is a senior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, majoring in neuroscience and minoring in Spanish and chemistry. She is also concurrently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health. While at Forge, Subrata is expanding and creating new educational and support strategy resources, in English and Spanish, to aid those impacted by breast cancer.
