Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy. As a champion for civil rights, Dr. King was a visionary who led America into a better tomorrow. Dr. King's fight for equality, diversity, and equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities fuels our mission at the Forge. We strive to foster a creative and collaborative environment through interacting with our community through education, cultural participation, and sharing the experience of making locally and globally.

IT'S NATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY! Today, we celebrate and shout out some of the Forge's own entrepreneurs! Over 60 entrepreneurs have used the Forge to develop their products, prototypes, and art. They rely on their access to the Forge to support their families, launch their artisan businesses, pursue careers as artists, and prove their business concept before they scale. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the talented and innovative entrepreneurs we have in our midst. Interested in seeing more of our entrepreneurs and buying their wares? Join us at Transform GSO on December 1st from 5-9 pm for our Handmade Market. Can't make it on that Friday? No problem! We will also have an Open House and Handmade Goods Holiday Festival at the Forge on December 2nd from 12-6 pm. We hope to see you there!

We had a blast celebrating the partnership between the Forge, and She Built This City on National Manufacturing Day! In addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, LaToya Faustin, She Built This City's Executive Director, and her team organized a live demonstration and had a Pre-Apprentice build a garden bench during the event! Thank you to our community partners who celebrated with us and commemorated this day. A special thanks to Mila Cornelius at Signs So Simple, who laser-cut and engraved both organizations' logos for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

We had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Sara Porter, associate professor of teacher education and higher education, and her Science Teacher Leader Network! Educators across Guilford and Rockingham counties participated in professional development at the Forge. In addition to their 3-day PD, they all received one-year memberships to the Forge so they could design hands-on educational activities for their classroom!
