FormAlloy is honored to pledge our support to and be in the first cohort of the Navy’s Talent Pipeline Program (TPP) here in California. Thank you Rear Admiral Todd Weeks for your words of encouragement and to CMDCM Jeffrey Hiscocks and your colleagues for the (most) compelling “why”. As part of the Defense Industrial Base, we stand ready to grow and support! Thank you to TMG and our network coach Dave Duffie for a great kickoff event! #DIB #SIB #manufacturing #TPP

We hope you had the chance to see our new automated tool path module, DEDSmart Path during IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show. This module is used to repair or to build onto an existing component, without the need for a CAD file, slicing, or manual alignment. Thank you to Stephanie at Additive Manufacturing Media for visiting us during the show. If you missed it, and want to learn more, send us a message! #directedenergydeposition #automation #metalAM
One of the notable equipment launches at IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show this year came from FormAlloy Technologies, Inc., with the introduction of its DEDSmart Path module for directed energy deposition (DED). The module, which can be installed inside or outside of a metal DED 3D printer, scans parts to quickly generate tool paths for deposition. The line scanner on top of the gantry captures the position and geometry of parts as they pass beneath it, and software automatically creates the toolpath with no need for slicing or CAD. DEDSmart Path was created out of an internal need to more quickly process customer parts, Melanie Lang told me at IMTS. The company was spending longer fixturing and locating this set of parts than the actual deposition step was taking. So, they found a way to automate the setup--which other DED users can now benefit from. Photos: 📸 The full demo set up at IMTS. 📸 Closer look at the turbine blades set up in the demo. The scanning module is ideal for applications such as blade repair, where only a small amount of material needs to be added but locating the part correctly is critical. 📸 Scan result, which will be used to output the tool path for DED. #AdditiveManufacturing #3DPrinting #IMTS2024 #DED
