Yesterday morning, #ForwardsEU consortium representatives gathered for an online data seminar which led to engaging discussion for the ForestWard Observatory. We featured insights from: 🔸 Roman Zweifel from TreeNet, who discussed data exchange between infrastructures and networking the forest infrastructure TreeNet data flow. 🔸 Dominic Fawcett from Eidg. Forschungsanstalt WSL, who shared valuable perspectives on forest data. 🔸Giovanni Santuopoli from Università degli Studi del Molise, who covered methods and tools for assessing #ClimateSmartForestry and lessons learned. 🔸Saverio Francini from Università degli Studi di Firenze, who focused on data collection purposes for #forest disturbances. 🔸Aleksi Lehtonen from Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus, who presented #remotesensing data.

🌲Yesterday #ForwardsEU partners had an online talk on "Governance constraints and opportunities for CSF and pan-European forest data sharing". 🎯 One of the key takeaways from the discussion highlighted the importance of navigating multi-level governance to unlock the full potential of #ClimateSmartForestry (CSF). From global to subnational measures, FORWARDS is leading the way in integrating forest data and enhancing restoration efforts across Europe.

📸 The 1st PhD Autumn School organized by #ForwardsEU project in collaboration with our partner Latvian State forest research institute "Silava" has recently concluded! Over three days, students from 8 countries explored various topics related to #ClimateSmartForestry.   After the PhD Autumn School, the 4th international conference "Old-growth forests: policy and practice" organized by the LSFRI "Silava" was also held.
